Maintain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle's equipment, the scope of functions, and the software of the newly installed radio, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the displayed wiring connectors with those in your vehicle to ensure they match both technically and visually. Verify if one of the listed OEM radios was originally installed. Before final installation, check the vehicle's functionality, system settings, and the correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

Technical Information

  • Analog connection.
  • Connector: 24pin / 18pin Hyundai.
  • For borderline years, use wiring 42a-1180-00c (ISO/Mini ISO + 24pin/18pin harness).
  • Check DIP switch settings on the aftermarket radio (HU).
  • Vehicles without OEM amplifier system and OEM navigation.
  • Vehicles with OEM navigation: use harness 42a-1180-004-nav.
  • For vehicles with different pin layouts and those with OEM navigation, always verify pin assignment before connecting to prevent vehicle or aftermarket device failure.

Diagnostic LED Indication

  • Blue steady light: interface active, +12V power from ignition present.
  • Red light: steering wheel control button function recognized.

Important Additional Information

  • Intended for aftermarket radios Sony, Kenwood, Panasonic, JVC, Pioneer, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Alpine, LG, Zenec, Becker.
  • To fully activate the adapter, an interconnecting cable for the specific radio brand is required.

General Installation Guidelines

Pre-installation Check:

  1. Check all control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit.
  2. Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) without power.
  3. Verify all interface connections are correctly attached – without power.

Connection and Installation Order:

  1. Verify interface settings and HW configuration – without power.
  2. Check connection cable configuration to HU – without power.
  3. Connect the cable to HU following the aftermarket device instructions.
  4. Connect other wires according to device instructions.
  5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – attach the main power connection last.
  6. Perform software configuration of the interface according to product description or manual.
  7. Configure the aftermarket HU (e.g., steering wheel control, camera, handsfree, antenna power).
  8. Perform a functional test of steering wheel control and vehicle communication.

Changing Interface and HU Cable Configuration:

  • Make all changes without power.
  • Repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

In Case of Interface or Vehicle System Failure:

  • Reinstall the original OEM HU.
  • Start the original unit.
  • Initiate CAN Bus system shutdown.
  • Check HW configuration of the interface.
  • After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 listed above.

When Modifying Connections or Wiring:

  • Connections and modifications should only be performed by professionally trained personnel.
  • All changes must be verified for manufacturer approval or impact on vehicle warranty before connecting.
  • All modifications must be verified by measurement and comparison with the vehicle wiring diagram before connecting.
