Steering wheel button control adapter for Audi / Seat / Škoda / VW (ACV SWC)

Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Compare the shown wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and ensure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM radios was originally installed. Before final installation, verify vehicle functionality, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power:

  • Connector: 40-pin VAG Quadlock.
  • Wiring for OEM steering wheel control: multilead harness.
  • OEM antenna: Fakra (female) → DIN/ISO (male) adapter.
  • For Pioneer AVH/DMH/SPH 2022 and newer: additional LFB cables to jack are required.
  • For VW with Dynaudio: verify +12 V Amp Remote on the 40-pin Quadlock (pin 11, gray) — measure before connecting.

Settings:

  • Check DIP switch settings according to the type of aftermarket radio.
  • Supports CAN Bus activation of the OEM audio system where required.

Diagnostic LED indication:

  • Blue flashing: searching for CAN Bus.
  • Blue steady: CAN Bus active.
  • Red: +12 V ignition active.

Available signals:

  • Pink: +12 V ignition (terminal 15) max. 1.5 A.
  • Orange: +12 V illumination (terminal 58) max. 0.1 A.
  • White: +12 V reverse max. 1.5 A.
  • Yellow/green, yellow/red: vehicle speed signal.
  • Gray (note): on some harnesses without function; for VAG see Dynaudio note above.

Important additional information

  • For Audi/Seat Exeo vehicles with OEM amplifier, use the appropriate LFB Quadlock amp harness or Pro version, or an active Audi/VW Quadlock MQS adapter. For VW T5/Touareg with OEM amplifier, use an active adapter.
  • Škoda vehicles with Bolero/Stream and Amundsen/Columbus are supported; vehicles with Technisat OEM units are not supported.
  • To fully activate the adapter, a brand-specific connection cable for the aftermarket radio must be ordered.

General installation instructions

Verification before installation:

  1. Check all steering control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit installed.
  2. Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) from power.
  3. Check all interface connections to ensure they are correctly connected — without power.

Connection and wiring sequence:

  1. Check the interface settings and hardware configuration — without power.
  2. Check the configuration of the connection cable to the head unit — without power.
  3. Connect the cable to the head unit according to the instructions of the aftermarket device.
  4. Connect the remaining wires according to the device instructions.
  5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle — connect the main power last.
  6. Perform the software configuration of the interface according to the product description or manual.
  7. Configure the aftermarket head unit (e.g. steering wheel control, camera, handsfree, antenna power).
  8. Perform a functional test of the steering wheel control and communication with the vehicle.

Changing interface and head unit cable configuration:

  • Make all changes without power.
  • Repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

In case of interface or vehicle system malfunction:

  • Reinstall the original OEM head unit.
  • Power on the original unit.
  • Trigger CAN Bus shutdown.
  • Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
  • After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 listed above.

When modifying wiring or cable routing:

  • Wiring and modifications must only be performed by professionally trained personnel.
  • All changes must be checked for manufacturer approval or impact on vehicle warranty before connection.
  • All modifications must be verified by measurement and compared with the vehicle wiring diagram before connection.
  • Modifications are performed at your own risk, without guarantee of functionality.
  • Modifications are carried out at your own risk, without guarantee against damage to the vehicle, device or interface.
  • Pre-modified harnesses may result in loss of product warranty.
