Steering wheel button control adapter for Audi / Seat / Škoda / VW ACV SWC 42A-1324-001-0

Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle equipment, range of functions and the software of the newly installed head unit, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the shown wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and make sure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM head units was originally installed. Before final installation verify vehicle functions, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power:

  • Connector: 40-pin VAG Quadlock (item: 42cx25).

Settings:

  • Check DIP switches on the aftermarket head unit (HU).
  • CAN Bus activation of the OEM audio system is supported.

Compatibility and special cases:

  • Audi / Seat Exeo with OEM units Blaupunkt / Matsushita / Grundig Concert II / Symphony II / Chorus II 2-DIN, Bosch BNS 5.0 (monochrome), RNS-E 16:9.
  • Vehicles without a 52-pin Quadlock connector are not supported.
  • Audi vehicles without the MMI system.
  • VW with DynAudio OEM system: +12 V REMOTE for amplifier on connector D(A) pin 11 (verify by measurement before connecting).

Vehicles with OEM audio system – recommended adapters:

  • Audi / Seat Exeo: Quadlock Amp 2/4 channel RCA (item: 42a-1321-002), Quadlock Amp 2/4 channel Pro (item: 42a-1321-006), Active system adapter Audi/VW Quadlock MQS (item: 13-1424-25).
  • VW T5 / Touareg / Caravelle / Multivan: Active system adapter VW T5/Touareg Quadlock MQS (item: 13-1424-26).

Available signals from the interface:

  • Pink: +12 V ignition terminal 15 (max. 1.5 A).
  • Orange: +12 V illumination terminal 58 (max. 0.1 A).
  • White: +12 V reverse signal (max. 1.5 A).
  • Yellow/green, yellow/red: speed pulse.
  • Gray: no interface function.
  • Gray: 40-pin Quadlock pin 11 +12 V AMP Remote for DynAudio OEM system.

Diagnostic LED indication:

  • Blue blinking: CAN Bus searching.
  • Blue steady: CAN Bus active.
  • Red steady: +12 V ignition power active.

Important additional information

  • Intended for aftermarket head units from Alpine, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Digital Dynamics, ESX, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, Snooper, Sony, XZent, Zenec and others (multilead solutions).
  • A connection cable specific to the head unit brand must be ordered for full adapter activation.

General installation instructions

Pre-installation checks:

  1. Check all control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit.
  2. Remove the original radio (OEM HU) with the power off.
  3. Check all interface connections for correct wiring – with power off.

Connection and wiring sequence:

  1. Perform interface hardware configuration and settings with the power off.
  2. Check the configuration of the connection cable to the HU.
  3. Connect the cable to the HU according to the aftermarket device instructions.
  4. Connect the other wires according to the device instructions.
  5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – connect the main power last.
  6. Perform the interface software configuration according to the product description and the user manual (BDA).
  7. Configure the aftermarket HU (steering wheel control, camera, handsfree, antenna power and others).
  8. Perform a functional test of the steering wheel control and communication with the vehicle.

Changing interface configuration and HU cable:

  • Make all changes with the power off.
  • After changes repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

In case of interface or vehicle system malfunction:

  • Reinstall the original OEM HU into the vehicle.
  • Start the original unit.
  • Allow the CAN Bus system to settle (go to sleep).
  • Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
  • After CAN Bus has settled repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

When modifying wiring or cable routing:

  • Wiring and modifications may only be performed by professionally trained personnel.
  • All changes must be verified in terms of manufacturer approval or impact on vehicle warranty before connecting.
  • All modifications must be verified by measurement and comparison with the vehicle wiring diagram before connecting.
  • Modifications are carried out at your own risk, without guarantee of functionality.
