Audi A6 e-tron: effective noise reduction without unnecessary kilograms

Audi A6 e-tron represents a new generation of Audi electric cars that brings not only fresh design but also the latest technologies. Thanks to the absence of a combustion engine, electric cars eliminate one traditional source of interior noise, but in reality the drive unit noise is one of the least significant noise sources during normal driving. The largest source remains the contact between the tires and the road, which is transmitted into the cabin mainly through the floor and wheel arches.

The owner wanted to reduce tire noise, which at higher speeds negatively affected the otherwise above-average comfort of this car, while keeping the weight increase to a minimum. We therefore decided on targeted soundproofing of the floor and outer wheel arches. This combination can very effectively reduce interior noise, especially when using Comfortmat materials from the newest Aerospace series, which were developed, among other things, for electric vehicles with emphasis on high efficiency at minimal weight.

The result of the installation is a significant reduction of interior noise with an overall weight increase of approximately 27 kg, which is negligible given the size of the car. The reward for this added weight is substantially more comfortable travel and an even better impression of an otherwise very luxurious vehicle.
