Volkswagen Tayron – full-scale soundproofing of a spacious SUV

The Volkswagen Tayron is the newest addition to Volkswagen’s SUV family, replacing the spacious Tiguan Allspace. According to available information, next year it aims to replace the legendary Touareg as well, which after 24 years will end without a direct successor. As a premium-oriented SUV it targets customers who want to combine long-distance comfort with practicality and dynamism. However, you cannot rely on high-quality factory soundproofing in this model either. Although the Tayron appears robust and luxurious, the cabin reveals mainly road, suspension and floor noise as well as aerodynamic noise while driving. These effects are particularly disturbing in a large SUV—especially on the highway or on rough roads—where they significantly reduce comfort.

The customer therefore chose our most effective Expert Plus package, which combines multilayer soundproofing using top-quality Comfortmat materials. During installation we treated the floor, roof, doors, front and rear wheel arches, the rear of the car and the engine bay in the dash area. We placed the greatest emphasis on the floor and wheel arches, where we used the most powerful anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials capable of effectively eliminating low-frequency noises from the tires and suspension.

The installation itself took one working day and was carried out by our experienced four-person team. The result is a noticeably quieter and more refined interior that highlights the vehicle's premium character and comfort on longer trips. Based on our measurements, this specification brings an average noise reduction of 3.5 to 4 dB, which corresponds to more than double the attenuation compared to the stock condition.
