Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the original radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle's equipment, the range of functions, and the software of the newly installed radio, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the displayed wiring connectors with those in your vehicle to ensure they match both technically and visually. Check if any of the listed OEM radios were originally installed. Verify the vehicle functionality, system settings, and correct steering wheel control (SWC) operation before the final installation.

CAN Bus Information

Connectors and Power Supply:

• Connector: 40-pin Quadlock BMW.
• Power: +12 V constant (terminal 30, fuse) - free red wire.

Settings:

• Check the DIP switches on the aftermarket radio (HU).

Vehicle Compatibility:

• Vehicles with original Business/Professional radio.
• Vehicles without iDrive.
• Vehicles without OEM MOST amplifier.

Vehicles with OEM MOST Amplifier:

• Active system adapter required: BMW MOST to RCA.

Vehicles with Parking Sensors (PDC):

• SWC CAN Bus adapter with parking sensors (PDC).
• SWC PDC speaker connection:
  • Pin 5: red wire.
  • Pin 11: black wire.

Warnings:

• Warning chimes are currently not supported.
• Additional chimes support: Chimes Interface BMW/Citroen/Peugeot/Fiat/Ford/Volvo.

Diagnostic LED Indication:

• Blue flashing: searching for CAN Bus signal.
• Blue steady: CAN Bus active.
• Red steady: active +12 V ignition.

Important Additional Information

• Designed for aftermarket radios Sony, Kenwood, Panasonic, JVC, Pioneer, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Alpine, LG, Zenec, Becker.
• A connecting cable specific to the radio brand is required for full adapter activation.

General Installation Guidelines

Verification Before Installation:

1. Check all control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit.
2. Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) without power.
3. Check all interface connections for correct attachment - without power.

Connection and Wiring Order:

1. Check interface settings and HW configuration - without power.
2. Check HU connection cable configuration - without power.
3. Connect the cable to the HU according to the aftermarket device instructions.
4. Connect other wires according to device instructions.
5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle - connect the main power supply last.
6. Perform software configuration of the interface as per product description or manual instructions.
7. Configure the aftermarket HU (e.g., steering control, camera, hands-free, antenna power).
8. Perform a functional test of the steering wheel control and vehicle communication.

Change of Interface and HU Cable Configuration:

• Make all changes without power.
• Repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

In Case of Interface or Vehicle System Malfunction:

• Reinstall the original OEM HU.
• Start the original unit.
• Invoke CAN Bus system shutdown.
• Check interface HW configuration.
• After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 listed above.

In Case of Wiring or Cabling Modifications:

• Connections and modifications should only be made by professionally trained personnel.
• All changes must be verified for manufacturer approval or warranty impact before connection.
• All modifications must be verified by measurement and comparison with the vehicle wiring diagram before connection.
