Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the original radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle equipment, the range of functions, and the software of the newly installed radio, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the displayed wiring connectors with those in your vehicle and ensure they match technically and visually. Check if any of the listed OEM radios were originally installed. Verify the vehicle's functionality, system settings, and proper steering wheel control (SWC) operation before final installation.

CAN Bus Information

Connectors and Power Supply:

• Connector: 40-pin BMW Quadlock.
• Power Supply: +12 V constant current - free red wire.

Settings:

• Check DIP switches on the aftermarket radio (HU).

Vehicle Compatibility:

• Vehicles with original Business/Professional radio.
• Vehicles without iDrive.
• Vehicles without OEM MOST amplifier.

Vehicles with OEM MOST amplifier:

• Active system adapter required: BMW MOST to RCA.

Vehicles with Rear Parking Sensors (PDC):

• SWC CAN Bus adapter with rear parking sensors (PDC).
• Connecting SWC speaker PDC.

Warning:

• Warning chimes are currently not supported.
• Additional support for chimes: Chimes Interface BMW/Citroen/Peugeot/Fiat/Ford/Volvo.

Diagnostic LED Indication:

• Blue blinking: searching for CAN Bus signal.
• Blue steady: CAN Bus active.
• Red steady: active +12 V ignition current.

Important Additional Information

• Designed for aftermarket radios Sony, Kenwood, Panasonic, JVC, Pioneer, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Alpine, LG, Zenec, Becker.
• To fully activate the adapter, a connecting cable for the specific radio brand is required.

General Installation Guidelines

Verification Before Installation:

1. Check all vehicle control functions and settings with the original OEM head unit.
2. Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) without power.
3. Check all interface connections to ensure they are correctly connected - without power.

Connection and Order of Installation:

1. Check interface settings and HW configuration - without power.
2. Check the HU connection cable configuration - without power.
3. Connect the cable to the HU according to the aftermarket device instructions.
4. Connect other wires according to the device instructions.
5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle - connect the main power connection last.
6. Perform software configuration of the interface as per product description or manual.
7. Configure the aftermarket HU (e.g. steering wheel control, camera, hands-free, antenna power).
8. Perform a functional test of steering wheel control and vehicle communication.

Changing Interface and HU Cable Configuration:

• Make all changes without power.
• Repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

In Case of Interface or Vehicle System Malfunction:

• Reinstall the original OEM HU.
• Start the original unit.
• Trigger CAN Bus system shutdown.
• Check the HW configuration of the interface.
• After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 listed above.

For Wiring Modifications or Cable Routing:

• Connections and modifications should only be performed by professionally trained personnel.
• All modifications must be verified for manufacturer approval or impact on vehicle warranty before connection.
• All modifications must be verified by measurement and comparison with the vehicle wiring diagram before connection.
