Maintain the original radio control functions from the steering wheel when replacing the original radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle's equipment, the range of functions, and the software of the newly installed radio, some control functions may be limited or changed. Compare the displayed wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and ensure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM radios was originally installed. Before final installation, also verify the vehicle's functionality, system settings, and correct operation of the steering wheel controls (SWC).

Connectors and Power:
- Connector: 40-pin Quadlock BMW (item: 42cx12).
- Power: +12 V constant current (terminal 30, fuses) - free red wire.
Settings:
Check DIP switches on the aftermarket radio (HU).
Vehicle Compatibility:
- Vehicles with original Business/Professional radio.
- Vehicles without iDrive.
- Vehicles without OEM MOST amplifier.
Vehicles with OEM MOST Amplifier:
Active system adapter required: BMW MOST to RCA (item: 13-1024-51).
Vehicles with Parking Sensors (PDC):
SWC CAN Bus adapter with PDC output: 42a/42cx PDC (item: 42cxpdc).
Note:
Warning chimes are currently not supported.
Diagnostic LED Indication:
- Blue flashing: Searching for CAN Bus signal.
- Blue steady: CAN Bus active.
- Red steady: Active +12 V ignition current.
Important Additional Information
- Designed for aftermarket radios Sony, Kenwood, Panasonic, JVC, Pioneer, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Alpine, LG, Zenec, Becker.
- A specific connection cable for the radio brand is required for full adapter activation.
General Installation Instructions
Verification Before Installation:
- Check all control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit (HU).
- Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) without power.
- Check all interface connections to ensure they are correctly connected - without power.
Connection and Wiring Order:
- Check the interface settings and hardware configuration - without power.
- Check the connection cable configuration to HU - without power.
- Connect the cable to HU as per the aftermarket device instructions.
- Connect other wires according to the supplied device instructions.
- Connect the entire installation to the vehicle - connect the main power connection last.
- Perform software configuration of the interface as per product description or manual.
- Configure the aftermarket HU according to the device instructions (e.g., steering wheel control, camera, hands-free kit, antenna power, etc.).
- Perform a functional test of the steering wheel control and vehicle communication.
Changing Interface and HU Cable Configuration:
- Make all changes without power.
- Repeat steps 5 to 8 mentioned above.
In Case of Interface or Vehicle System Malfunction:
- Reinstall the original OEM HU.
- Start the original unit.
- Trigger the CAN Bus system shutdown.
- Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
- After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 mentioned above.
