Mercedes V-Class - soundproofing and sound system (Burmester upgrade)

Soundproofing and audio upgrade of the premium MPV Mercedes‑Benz V‑Class. This popular vehicle is a regular visitor to our workshop, mainly because of its insufficient factory sound insulation. Since this is an upper‑class car, owners expect a high standard in terms of factory soundproofing as well — and a great disappointment often follows the purchase. Even the V‑Class shows practically no improvement compared with other vehicles in the commercial category, and when driving you can hear unpleasant noise from the engine, wheels, the road surface and aerodynamic noise. To make the popular 'V' meet premium car standards, the owner turned to us to take care of the noise in this vehicle. Together with the owner we selected our Premium Plus soundproofing package, which, besides the roof, includes all the important areas of the car. Specifically, we focused on the front, sliding and tailgate doors, the floor, the sides, the front and rear wheel arches and the hood. Beyond the package we also soundproofed the dashboard, which is particularly important in these cars. For the Plus package we choose more effective and thicker materials, so the vehicle is soundproofed to the possible maximum. For such a large car the package price is increased because we spent more time on the vehicle and used a larger amount of materials. We also upgraded the audio, replacing the speakers of the optional Burmester system. Unfortunately that system does not offer sufficiently high‑quality sound reproduction, which can be greatly improved simply by swapping the speakers. We chose a complete set from the German manufacturer Eton, which includes component speakers for the front and rear doors and coaxial speakers for the dashboard. Of course we connected everything to the factory amplifier, which provides the speakers with sufficient power. The result of the installation is not only significantly better sound with detailed highs and precise low frequencies, but also an overall quieter vehicle with incomparably higher driving comfort. We had to split such an extensive installation over two working days to ensure a perfect result.
