Soundproofing of a luxury Mercedes‑Benz GLS SUV. This car is an example that even such an expensive vehicle does not come with sufficient factory noise insulation. The owner of this beautiful car previously had an Audi Q7 soundproofed by us, with which he was also dissatisfied with the factory insulation. After installation and getting used to the new higher driving comfort of his Audi, it did not surprise us that the new Mercedes‑Benz GLS would not meet the owner’s high expectations regarding noise insulation and was a big disappointment in an otherwise flawless car. The owner saw the biggest problem in pronounced noise from the floor and from the front and rear wheels. We therefore agreed on our Premium soundproofing package with individualized solutions for certain areas. That includes, besides the roof — which in this car is panoramic — soundproofing of all the most important areas of the vehicle. Specifically, we soundproofed the front, rear and fifth doors, the floor, the luggage compartment, the front and rear wheel arches and the hood. As you can see in the photos, the bodywork has very inadequate protection against vibrations and the anti-noise insulation in the form of foam material, especially on the floor and rear wheel arches, stands no chance of preventing noise, particularly low-frequency noise, which is the main issue with this car. We placed great emphasis on the most problematic areas and treated the entire car with premium anti-vibration and membrane Comfortmat materials, which offer the highest efficiency on the current market. Due to the high demands of soundproofing this type of vehicle, the working time on the car increased by more than 10 hours compared to standard cars. We must mention that, from an installation perspective, this was the most demanding car we have ever had in the workshop and we also used the largest amount of material, excluding commercial vehicles. Nevertheless, we complete the installation within 1 working day thanks to the presence of 4 of our experienced technicians.

Our basic Standard soundproofing includes soundproofing of all important areas of the car, focusing not only on high efficiency, but also at an affordable price. In particular, we are dedicated to soundproofing the hood, front and rear doors, trunk, floor and front and rear wheel arches from the inside. We use Comfortmat anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, especially from the Standard model series, thanks to which we are able to reduce the price to a lower level. However, we apply the same materials as in the Premium soundproofing package to the areas most affected by noise. Thanks to this, our basic package already enables highly effective noise reduction, which at the given price has no equivalent on our market.

The Standard Light sound deadening package is intended for all customers who require a very effective sound deadening of the car, but taking into account the low weight of the materials. We soundproof the same areas as the Standard package, i.e. the hood, front and rear doors, floor, trunk and front and rear wheel arches. However, we use different materials that excel in light weight while maintaining high efficiency. In the first and second layers of noise reduction, we apply lightweight anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, which allow for 30 percent lower weight and at the same time only slightly lower efficiency than with the Standard package. Compared to our most efficient Expert and Expert Plus packages, this is a weight reduction of up to 50 percent.

Our most popular Premium sound deadening package includes almost complete vehicle sound deadening in addition to the roof. And as the name of the package suggests, we work exclusively with top-quality Comfortmat materials from the Premium model range, and in the areas most affected by noise and vibration, we use materials from the top Expert range. Specifically, as part of this package, we soundproof the hood, front and rear doors, floor, luggage compartment, front and rear wheel arches from the inside and the fifth door. Compared to the Standard package, we therefore not only choose significantly more effective anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, but also soundproof the fifth door. The result is a rapid reduction in noise and an acceptable weight of the materials.

The Expert sound deadening package already includes complete vehicle sound deadening. Specifically, as part of this package, we focus on the hood, roof, torpedo, front, rear and fifth doors, floor, luggage compartment and on the front and rear wheel arches from the inside of the car. We choose the same anti-vibration and soundproofing materials as with the Premium sound deadening package, but we also pay attention to the roof and the torpedo. This will enable comprehensive soundproofing without the risk of increased noise in places where additional sound insulation has not been carried out. With the Expert soundproofing package, you get not only rapid noise reduction, but also thermal insulation, and is therefore the most recommended solution if the car is not equipped with a sunroof or a panoramic roof.
