Mercedes-Benz GLE - complete Steg sound system (Burmester upgrade)

A luxury Mercedes GLE SUV with the factory optional Burmester sound system and an owner dissatisfied with that system. A fairly common situation, because despite its price the Burmester system delivers only average sound that simply doesn’t excite. We faced the demanding task of installing a new sound system tuned exclusively for listening to classical music. This genre is perhaps the most demanding of all, because symphonies in particular contain a large number of instruments and require speakers capable of reproducing a wide frequency range from the lowest to the highest tones. A powerful amplifier with a DSP processor is essential for making the most of the speakers and fine-tuning them. For this installation we chose the complete system from the Italian manufacturer Steg, which among other things specializes in audio systems for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The speakers have the same shape, mounting and connectors as the factory speakers. No drilling, screwing or soldering is needed and we of course use the original wiring. The installation is therefore in the spirit of Plug & Play and without intervention into the original wiring or interior design. We replaced the component speakers in the front and rear doors, the center speaker and the subwoofers under the dashboard. In the luggage compartment we installed an eight-channel amplifier with a DSP processor from the same manufacturer. On the amplifier we adjusted the crossovers, slopes, phase, time correction and equalizer. To prevent potential resonances we also soundproofed the plastic door panels. The result is a perfect sound tailored to this car that significantly surpasses the original Burmester system both sonically and in power. The identical audio system can be installed in most modern Mercedes-Benz vehicles for which the speakers from the renowned Italian manufacturer Steg are directly intended. View products >Hide products >
