Mercedes-Benz B-Class - soundproofing of the front wheel arches and hood

Soundproofing of the front wheel arches and hood of a Mercedes‑Benz B‑Class. The owner of this vehicle complained about noise mainly from the front, specifically from the front wheels and the engine. The main culprits are the tires and, of course, the engine. We can effectively reduce strong low-frequency noise from the front wheels using a 4 mm anti-vibration material from the premium Dark range. It deals not only with vibrations but also with the lowest-frequency noise. Mid and high frequencies are then handled by the multilayer Comfortmat Blockshot material, which—thanks to its anti-noise membrane—allows sound insulation of up to 30 dB. We apply that to the plastic part of the wheel arches, which also prevents noise from flying stones. We soundproof the hood with two layers as well. The first is the traditional anti-vibration Comfortmat D2 material, 2.3 mm thick, which increases the stiffness of the hood sheet metal and reduces vibrations in that area. Noise reduction is achieved by applying the sound- and heat-insulating Comfortmat Neoprene material, which replaces the missing original engine cover. View products >Hide products >
