Under such a coating the process continues unseen, which soon leads to blistering of the surface and renewed rust penetration. Hydrate-80 works on a completely different principle. Its electrochemical action actively reacts with existing corrosion and transforms it into a stable, solid layer that prevents further spread of oxidation.
Once cured, the product forms a tough, non-rubbery barrier that adheres firmly to the metal substrate. Unlike some other rust removers, Hydrate-80 does not contain chlorine, which can convert over time into corrosive hydrochloric acid and damage the topcoat. The exceptional resistance of this product has been proven in independent tests by the German organisation TÜV, where it passed demanding cyclic testing in a salt spray chamber and under extreme humidity.

How to use
- Surface preparation is key: remove loose corrosion with a wire brush or sandpaper so the product can reach the oxidising steel surface.
- Degrease and wash the treated area thoroughly with clean water to remove dust and contaminants, otherwise defects may form in the protective layer.
- Shake the product well before use and pour the required amount into a non-metallic container. Do not return unused product to the original container.
- Apply two moderate coats at 30-minute intervals.
- Work the first coat thoroughly into the metal pores and then smooth it with a brush in one direction. Apply the second coat perpendicular (at 90 degrees) to the first.
- When spraying, first apply a light mist, let it tack for 5 to 10 minutes and then apply a full coat.
- For optimal results allow the product to cure for 24 hours; if a faster workflow is needed additional coats can be applied after 3 hours.
- Do not use at temperatures below 10 °C, as low temperatures significantly slow the reaction time and formation of the protective barrier.
- Apply the product slightly beyond the visible damage to ensure complete treatment of transition areas.
- After finishing, wash used tools with water.
- Hydrate-80 serves as an excellent base for topcoats; using a quality primer is recommended but not essential.
- Before final painting we recommend performing a compatibility test on a small area.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after use.
- If the product gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with a stream of clean water and seek medical attention.
