Bilt Hamber Deox-Gel is a highly effective viscous rust remover designed for cleaning surfaces and objects that are too large to be immersed in a deoxidising bath with the product Deox-C. This gel removes corrosion down to bare metal without the need for strenuous mechanical sanding or blasting. When removing corrosion from large parts or vertical surfaces it is often difficult to keep the active substance in place long enough. Ordinary liquid products quickly run off and dry out, losing their effectiveness. Deox-Gel solves this problem with its viscous consistency, which adheres reliably to vertical surfaces and allows the active ingredients to work deeply on rusted spots without the need to dismantle and immerse the part.

Unlike mechanical methods such as sanding or blasting, this gel does not remove sound metal or cause deformation of thin steel panels. This eliminates the risk of abrasive particles becoming lodged in the metal micropores, which is a common cause of failure of subsequently applied protective coatings. The gel reacts only with iron oxides and leaves surrounding healthy material completely untouched.

The formulation is non-toxic, biodegradable and gentle to both the environment and the user. How to use

• Before application degrease the surface thoroughly with a suitable water-based cleaner, ideally Surfex-HD.
• Apply a sufficient amount of gel to the rusted metal using a brush, spatula or cardboard.
• Keep the gel in a thick and even layer; avoid spreading it into too thin a film.
• Cover the applied gel with plastic foil to prevent drying and to retain necessary moisture.
• Leave to act for approximately 12 hours depending on the thickness of the corrosion layer.
• After the time has elapsed remove the foil and scrape off the loosened gel with a spatula or scraper.
• Clean the treated area thoroughly with a hard plastic brush and rinse with plenty of water.
• We recommend treating the cleaned surface afterwards with a suitable anti-corrosion protection.
