This unique zinc-based primer provides reliable sacrificial (cathodic) protection for steel and metal surfaces. This single-component product cures to form a layer containing more than 90% pure zinc, effectively replacing conventional hot-dip galvanizing. It is an ideal choice for protecting vehicle underbodies, classics and industrial structures exposed to harsh weather.

Conventional paints and primers only provide a barrier protection. If that layer is mechanically damaged, moisture reaches the steel and corrosion begins to spread under the paint. This product works by cathodic protection, where zinc actively sacrifices itself to protect the underlying steel from corrosion. Even if scratched or mechanically damaged, the steel underneath remains rust-free because the zinc layer continues to block corrosive processes.

This zinc coating is designed to bring the benefits of industrial galvanizing to places that cannot be immersed in molten zinc due to size or mobility. It can be easily applied by brush or spray directly onto cleaned metal. As a single-component product there is no need for complex mixing with hardeners. After curing it forms a strong, electrically conductive film ready for a topcoat or stone-chip protective coating.

It is particularly useful for classic car restoration and chassis maintenance, where long-term protection of critical parts is essential. Suitable for treating floor pans, beams, suspension arms, sills and other stressed components. Its resistance, verified by salt spray testing, also makes it suitable for marine use to protect harbour structures, piers and pilings.

How to use

• Stir the product thoroughly before use and during application to fully disperse the settled zinc powder.
• Apply to metal free of grease, oil, mill scale and loose rust.
• The product can be applied by brush, conventional spray gun or airless system.
• Apply one full coat and avoid excessive brushing back and forth.
• For extreme conditions it is recommended to apply a second coat after three hours of drying.
• The surface is touch-dry within 20 to 30 minutes and fully cured after three hours.
• The cured surface can be left uncoated or overpainted or given stone-chip protection after 24 hours.
• Coverage is approximately 8 to 10 m² per litre of product.
• Xylene can be used as a thinner if necessary.
