How to Care for Polishing Pads
- Caring for polishing pads is crucial for their longevity and future polishing capabilities.
- Temperature of the pad itself is very important during use, as it can heat up to high temperatures while polishing.
- Overheating the pad frequently reduces its lifespan significantly.
- Monitor the temperature and let the pad cool if it's overheated.
- High temperatures affect both the foam and adhesive of the pad.
- Regular cleaning during the polishing process is necessary, otherwise, the pad loses effectiveness.
- Once the pad is saturated with polishing paste, it needs attention.
- Use a medium-soft brush and set the polisher to lower speeds to brush out old paste.
- Avoid splattering used paste onto the polished surface when cleaning.
- If you have an air compressor, you can use it to blow out the pad at low speeds.
- After successful machine polishing, prepare the pad for future use.
- We recommend washing the pad in a washing machine at 40 °C with a microfiber detergent.
- Never wash pads with towels or cloths!
- Do not tumble dry the pads; let them air dry on a towel with the polishing side down.
- If a washing machine is unavailable, hand wash using an APC cleaner diluted at a 1:6 ratio.
- Store polishing pads in a dry place away from direct sunlight, preferably in a closed clean plastic box.
