How to Care for Polishing Pads

  • Caring for polishing pads is very important for their long lifespan and future polishing capabilities.
  • During work, the temperature of the pad itself is very important for its lifespan, as it can heat up to high temperatures while polishing paint.
  • If you polish the paint for a long time and frequently overheat the pad, you significantly shorten its lifespan.
  • Therefore, monitor the temperature and if the pad is overheated, let it cool down for a while.
  • High temperatures affect both the foam and the adhesive of the pad.
  • The polishing pad needs to be cleaned often during the polishing process, otherwise, it will stop working and polishing the paint will not be effective.
  • Once the polishing pad is clogged with polishing paste, it's necessary to start addressing it.
  • You can use a medium-soft brush and set the polisher to lower speeds, holding the brush in hand to brush out the old paste.
  • Be careful not to throw used paste onto the polished car paint during rotary cleaning.
  • If you own an air compressor, you can use it to blow out the pad in the same manner with the polisher turned on.
  • After successful machine polishing, the pad also needs to be brought to a state where it can be ideally used again in the future.
  • We recommend washing the polishing pad in a washing machine at 40°C using a detergent used for microfiber.
  • Never wash pads together with towels or cloths!
  • After washing, do not put the pads in a dryer, but let them air dry on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
  • If you do not have access to a washing machine, you can wash the pads by hand using one of the APC cleaners, diluted in a ratio of 1:6.
  • Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed clean plastic box.
