BMW 3 (G20) - Audison sound system (Harman Kardon upgrade)

Sound system for a BMW 3 (G20) equipped with the factory Harman Kardon system. BMW owners who are unhappy with the sound from Harman Kardon speakers have limited upgrade options, because the presence of optical cables makes it impossible to connect a different amplifier without complicated and expensive re-wiring. The solution is therefore to replace the speakers and subwoofers while fully connecting them to the existing Harman Kardon amplifier. This approach has proven successful for us several times, because the original Harman amplifier is actually quite good and provides sufficient power for the speakers. As usual, we chose Audison speakers and subwoofers, which share the same shape, dimensions and connectors as the factory speakers and thus represent the most attractive OEM-compatible option. The swap is therefore easy and requires no intervention in the original wiring. Specifically, we replaced the speakers in the front doors, the rear sides, the center speaker and the two subwoofers under the seats. And what change can you expect compared to the Harman Kardon optional system? Audison speakers not only deliver higher-quality sound than the Harman Kardon speakers, they also have higher sensitivity, which positively affects output and distortion at the highest volumes. The original Harman amplifier suits the Audison speakers very well, and the result is not only significantly richer and more detailed sound with clearer highs, but also higher output with precise and more powerful bass. The Harman Kardon equipment also allows advanced sound tuning on the head unit, which lets us get an even better performance from the Audison speakers than, for example, from a basic sound system. This car is a perfect example that a simple speaker swap is enough to achieve better sound quality for a speaker purchase price that is reasonable given the value of the car.View products >Hide products >
