Autotek and Crunch return to Ahifi after many years!

After a long absence, two brands are returning to Ahifi's range – Autotek and Crunch. Both have their roots in the American car audio scene and are among the more affordable manufacturers of amplifiers, subwoofers, and speakers designed for basic installations. In recent years, we have mainly included manufacturers from the higher price and quality segment in our range, which is why Crunch and Autotek are returning mainly as an affordable alternative to expand our range across the markets in which we operate.

Shared history

Autotek and Crunch were both founded in the United States at a time when car audio was experiencing a boom. In the 1980s and 1990s, both brands made a name for themselves as manufacturers of amplifiers and speakers that offered solid performance and easy installation at an affordable price. They gradually built up a relatively strong position, particularly in the basic and mid-range market segments.

Later, both brands became part of the American company Maxxsonics USA, which today also includes the well-known brands Hifonics and MB Quart in its portfolio. Within this group, the individual brands have clearly defined roles. While Hifonics is more focused on higher-performance systems and higher power classes, Autotek and Crunch have long covered the more affordable segment of the market.

Distribution for the European market is now handled by the German company Audio Design GmbH, which is responsible for product line development, logistics, and technical support for the European market.

Focus of the Autotek and Crunch brands

Although Autotek and Crunch share a similar history and the same ownership structure, their products have slightly different focuses.

Autotek has traditionally focused primarily on basic components for simple audio systems with a limited portfolio. A typical example is a range of speakers in the most common sizes, which serve as direct replacements for factory speakers and are sufficient in terms of performance even with weaker factory head units. The range also includes a basic selection of amplifiers and subwoofers, supplemented by mounting hardware.

In contrast, Crunch has a significantly broader portfolio. The range includes three series of amplifiers with almost 30 models in different power and price categories. In addition to amplifiers, it also offers a larger selection of subwoofer systems, active subwoofers, speakers, and complete bass sets. The range includes both basic components for simple audio upgrades and more advanced solutions such as DSP amplifiers, compact active subwoofers, and designer bandpass enclosures.

We believe that both brands will find their fans, whether because of their affordable prices or their interesting designs, which differ from those of traditional European manufacturers.
