Toyota Corolla - soundproofing
Soundproofing of a Toyota Corolla in the hybrid variant. Although the new model of this popular car boasts increased comfort, the sound insulation lacks sufficient effectiveness. Practically only on the floor will you find a thicker layer of factory anti-vibration material, which attempts to at least partly compensate for this manufacturer’s well-known weakness of thin sheet metal. Since almost no insulation exists in other areas of the car, this results in pronounced resonances and vibrations due to a lack of body stiffness. This manifests as increased low-frequency noise, especially from the tyres via the front and rear wheel arches, but also road noise penetrating through the floor and side doors. The weak soundproofing (completely absent on the doors and in the trunk) cannot block mid and high-frequency noise either, so it is necessary to additionally soundproof the car for greater comfort. The owner wanted the smallest possible increase in vehicle weight, so we chose our discounted Standard Light package, which focuses on the front and rear doors, the floor, the trunk, the front and rear wheel arches from the vehicle side and the hood. We specifically targeted the rear wheel arches, which are problematic on this model. The Standard Light package offers, besides high effectiveness, especially very low material weight, allowing us to meet the customer's demands for low weight. We soundproof all areas of the vehicle with 2 layers of materials: the first layer is the premium ultra-light anti-vibration material Comfortmat Premium Dark and the second layer is also an extremely light acoustic and thermal insulating material Comfortmat Vision. The result is a significant reduction in interior noise and an increase in weight of just 40 Kg.

Our basic Standard soundproofing includes soundproofing of all important areas of the car, focusing not only on high efficiency, but also at an affordable price. In particular, we are dedicated to soundproofing the hood, front and rear doors, trunk, floor and front and rear wheel arches from the inside. We use Comfortmat anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, especially from the Standard model series, thanks to which we are able to reduce the price to a lower level. However, we apply the same materials as in the Premium soundproofing package to the areas most affected by noise. Thanks to this, our basic package already enables highly effective noise reduction, which at the given price has no equivalent on our market.

The Standard Light sound deadening package is intended for all customers who require a very effective sound deadening of the car, but taking into account the low weight of the materials. We soundproof the same areas as the Standard package, i.e. the hood, front and rear doors, floor, trunk and front and rear wheel arches. However, we use different materials that excel in light weight while maintaining high efficiency. In the first and second layers of noise reduction, we apply lightweight anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, which allow for 30 percent lower weight and at the same time only slightly lower efficiency than with the Standard package. Compared to our most efficient Expert and Expert Plus packages, this is a weight reduction of up to 50 percent.

Our most popular Premium sound deadening package includes almost complete vehicle sound deadening in addition to the roof. And as the name of the package suggests, we work exclusively with top-quality Comfortmat materials from the Premium model range, and in the areas most affected by noise and vibration, we use materials from the top Expert range. Specifically, as part of this package, we soundproof the hood, front and rear doors, floor, luggage compartment, front and rear wheel arches from the inside and the fifth door. Compared to the Standard package, we therefore not only choose significantly more effective anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, but also soundproof the fifth door. The result is a rapid reduction in noise and an acceptable weight of the materials.

Specifically, as part of this package, we focus on the hood, roof, torpedo, front, rear and fifth doors, floor, luggage compartment and on the front and rear wheel arches from the inside of the car. We choose the same anti-vibration and soundproofing materials as with the Premium sound deadening package, but we also pay attention to the roof and the torpedo. This will enable comprehensive soundproofing without the risk of increased noise in places where additional sound insulation has not been carried out. With the Expert soundproofing package, you get not only rapid noise reduction, but also thermal insulation, and is therefore the most recommended solution if the car is not equipped with a sunroof or a panoramic roof.
