Peugeot 2008 – active audio system controlled by DSP processor

We equipped the Peugeot 2008 with a high-quality audio system designed to deliver a significant upgrade over the factory sound while preserving the cleanest possible interior appearance. The front system is built around Ground Zero component speakers from the premium Uranium series, also honored with the prestigious EISA award. Their detailed presentation, high dynamics and very good tonal balance make them an ideal foundation for a system focused primarily on sound quality. With the customer's consent we exposed separate tweeters, which has a decisive impact on the rendering of detail, the sense of space and the correct creation of the soundstage.

Driving the front speakers is a four-channel Helix amplifier, with the entire front system wired actively. Each driver can therefore be controlled individually and precisely adjusted via DSP, which allows significantly better control over the resulting sound, correct time alignment and more accurate tuning of the whole system. For the bass section we chose a dedicated Morel monoblock and a compact subwoofer of the same brand, which is able to offer above-standard power and sound quality with very modest space requirements. This subwoofer also received an EISA award.

The amplifiers are completely hidden in the double floor of the trunk, so they hardly limit the car's practical usability. The only element that occupies part of the boot is the subwoofer in a compact 15 l enclosure. However, it is so small that in this case it represents a very good compromise between space requirements and the resulting quality of the bass. For a high-quality signal source we supplemented the system with an Audison B-CON, which enables wireless streaming of high-resolution music directly to the DSP processor and thus helps to fully exploit the potential of the entire setup.
