Morel Virtus MT120N Tweeters

The completely redesigned and now legendary Virtus series represents a significant technological advancement by Morel in terms of materials and innovation. Both aesthetically and acoustically enhanced, the Virtus series brings emotion to music through the balance of rich and natural mids, detailed high frequencies, and vibrant bass. Key features of this series include the handcrafted MT120N tweeter with a silk dome and patented Acuflex™ coating, offering excellent high-frequency performance with very low distortion levels. The midbass speakers with a unified chassis and powerful EVC™ motor provide outstanding dynamics and high performance. The Virtus line and the Morel Virtus 63.4 three-way system also include a 75 mm midrange speaker with an extended frequency range and high-quality crossovers with MXR technology and Morel's signature design. Virtus offers even more versatility in system assembly and is available in variants with 2 or 4-ohm impedance. This allows you to maximize the performance of your amplification source, whether it is a factory head unit or an aftermarket amplifier. Choose the impedance that best suits your setup and unleash the full potential of your audio system. All individual components are also available separately, making the Virtus series the most versatile from Morel.

Handcrafted Morel Acuflex Membranes

A specially developed damping compound applied to the soft domes of specific Morel tweeters and midrange speakers. The combination of silk and paper materials creates a membrane that exhibits controlled breakup cancellation (precisely flexing), meaning each breakup mode is suppressed by another in the opposite direction. This cancellation of breakup modes leaves nothing but the pure and natural sound for which Morel's tweeters and midrange speakers are known.

HEXATECH™ Aluminum Voice Coil

The Hexatech™ voice coil, made from 100% aluminum wire shaped like a honeycomb, reduces air gaps in the coil winding, increasing efficiency by up to 20%. Being lightweight, Hexatech™ coils are largely responsible for the exceptionally fast transient response for which Morel's drive units are known.

Neodymium Magnet

The strongest magnet available - neodymium, allows Morel to create physically compact speakers, such as tweeters and midrange units, that fit into very limited spaces without compromising sound quality.

Speaker typeCoaxial speakers:
Coaxial speakers are characterized by a so-called all-in-one design. The tweeter and mid-bass speaker are in one basket. The advantage is simpler assembly, but thanks to the connection or proximity of the bands in one speaker, the sound quality will usually be reduced. As a rule, in the middle of the mid-bass speaker, there is a tweeter whose voice coil works in the second air gap of the common magnetic circuit. The three-way coaxial speaker consists of a mid-bass speaker, a center speaker and a separate tweeter in the front on a special beam.

Component Speakers:
Component speakers are characterized by a division into individual frequency bands, treble + mid-bass + or. bass band. The individual speakers can be placed completely separately, which results in a better sound and acoustic performance. In the vast majority of cases of component speakers, an external crossover is also supplied, which divides the treble, middle / mid-bass, and into the three-band the bass band or allows setting the decibel level of the tweeter (e.g. +2 dB, 0 dB, -2 dB), steepness (e.g. 6dB/Oct. 12dB/Oct.) or active or bi-amp connection.

ImpedanceImpedance - measurement of electrical resistance. When buying speakers, it is important to make sure that the impedance matches the amplifier or car stereo you are using.

Example:
A 2 Ohm speaker cannot be connected to an amplifier that is only stable up to 4 Ohms! A 4 Ohm speaker can easily be used with an amplifier that is stable up to 2 Ohms. The most common speaker impedance today is 3 - 4 Ohm.
8 Ω
Overall tweeter diameterThe total diameter of the tweeter is given as the diameter of the individual tweeter without the installation houses. 43 mm
Tweeter dome diameterThe net diameter of the dome (diaphragm) of the tweeter. 28 mm
The overall depth of the tweeterThe total depth of the tweeter itself without the installation houses. 46 mm
Tweeter dome materialThe shell material that was used in the manufacture of the tweeter. Silk with Acuflex
Frequency crossover included in the packageThe crossover is an important part of defacto all loudspeakers. A crossover usually contains different resistor values, coil sizes, and capacitor types that fundamentally modify the sound. We describe below what the turnouts are for.

Component Speakers:
A crossover is part of every quality component speaker system. Its task is to ensure the distribution of frequencies that the amplifier produces in the entire acoustic spectrum of frequencies so that each of the speakers receives only that part of the band that it can optimally play in terms of efficiency and minimal distortion.

Coaxial speakers:
In most cases, coaxial loudspeakers have a simple crossover (6dB/Oct.) formed by a capacitor at the tweeter.
