Ineos Grenadier - custom audio system and complete soundproofing

Sound system installation and soundproofing for the Ineos Grenadier. We had only read glowing reviews about this intriguing vehicle, so we were very excited about the project ahead of us. The owner of this Ineos had a clear vision for its sound, which shaped the overall concept, the desired sonic character, and the interior design. The primary goal was to install a three-way system and fabricate custom A-pillars, since the factory speaker locations in this vehicle are incompatible with the intent to build a sound-quality audio system. We faced the challenge of choosing the right components and working with an unconventional interior, aiming for no compromises in sound quality where possible. At Ahifi we love demanding challenges from discerning clients. In the end we chose a three-way system from the Israeli manufacturer Morel, which specializes in high-end audio for both cars and homes. For the tweeters and midrange drivers we built front A-pillars positioned optimally for highly faithful sound with a flat frequency response, and we completed the system with a top-tier subwoofer from the same manufacturer. Equally demanding was finding suitable amplifiers, as even in a vehicle of this size there was limited space for quality analog amplifiers. We refused to compromise by using Class D amps because their sound quality is still below our standard. Ultimately we managed to place Crescendo Class AB amplifiers under the seats, whose main strengths are faithful, musical sound combined with relatively compact dimensions. To let the owner enjoy the sound to the fullest, we also completely soundproofed the Ineos. After all, we always recommend that for such audio systems. The quieter the interior, the more you will enjoy the sound. For that reason we soundproofed the vehicle as part of our most effective Expert Plus program. At the end of the installation we performed the customary measurement of the speakers’ frequency response, which allows professional tuning of the sound not only to the listener but above all to this specific vehicle with all the challenges of this acoustically imperfect environment. The measured results are then set in the software of the advanced Helix Pro-series DSP processor, we fine-tune the sound according to our preferences and then carry out the final adjustment with the client. The result of a total of 119 hours of work is uncompromising audiophile sound, to which the custom A-pillars providing ideal speaker placement contribute significantly.
