How to Care for Polishing Pads
- Caring for polishing pads is very important for their longevity and future polishing capabilities.
- During work, the temperature of the pad itself, which can heat up to high temperatures during paint polishing, is very important for its lifespan.
- If you polish the paint for a long time and frequently overheat the pad, you significantly shorten its lifespan.
- Therefore, monitor the temperature and if the pad is overheated, let it cool down for a while.
- Both the foam and the adhesive of the pad suffer at high temperatures.
- The polishing pad needs to be cleaned often during the polishing process, otherwise it will stop working effectively.
- Once the pad is clogged with polishing paste, it's necessary to address it.
- You can use a medium-soft brush and set the polisher to lower speeds, holding the brush by hand to brush away the old paste.
- Be careful not to throw the used paste onto the polished paint of the car during rotary cleaning.
- If you own an air compressor, you can use it to blow the pad clean in the same manner with the polisher turned on.
- After a successful polishing process, the pad needs to be put in a condition to be ideally used again in the future.
- We recommend washing the polishing pad in a machine at 40°C using a detergent designed for microfiber.
- Never wash the pads together with towels or cloths!
- Do not put the pads in a dryer; let them dry naturally, placed on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
- If you don't have access to a washing machine, you can wash the pads by hand using an APC cleaner, diluted at a ratio of 1:6.
- Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed clean plastic box.
