How to Care for Polishing Pads
- Caring for polishing pads is crucial for their longevity and future polishing capabilities.
- During use, the pad's temperature is critical for its longevity, as it can heat up significantly during paint polishing.
- If you polish the paint for a long time and frequently overheat the pad, you significantly reduce its lifespan.
- Monitor the temperature, and if the pad is overheated, let it cool down for a while.
- Both the foam and the pad's adhesive suffer at high temperatures.
- The polishing pad needs to be cleaned frequently during the polishing process; otherwise, it will stop functioning effectively.
- Once the pad is clogged with polishing paste, it needs to be addressed.
- You can use a medium-soft brush and set the polisher to lower speeds, holding the brush in your hand to brush off the old paste. Beware not to splash used paste onto the polished car paint.
- If you have an air compressor, you can use it to blow out the pad in the same manner.
- After successful machine polishing, the pad needs to be prepared for future use.
- We recommend washing the polishing pad in a washing machine at 40°C using a microfiber detergent.
- Never wash pads together with towels or cloths!
- Do not tumble dry the pads; let them air dry on a towel with the polishing side down.
- If a washing machine is unavailable, you can wash the pads by hand using an APC cleaner diluted at a 1:6 ratio.
- Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a sealed clean plastic box.
