How to Care for Polishing Pads

• Caring for polishing pads is crucial for their longevity and future polishing capabilities.
• The temperature of the pad itself is very important during use, as it can heat up to high temperatures while polishing paint.
• If you polish the paint for an extended period and frequently overheat the pad, you significantly shorten its lifespan.
• Monitor the temperature, and if the pad overheats, let it cool down for a while.
• Both the foam and adhesive of the pad suffer at high temperatures.
• Polishing pads need to be cleaned frequently during the polishing process; otherwise, they will stop functioning, and paint polishing will not be efficient.
• Once the polishing pad is clogged with polishing paste, it needs to be addressed.
• You can use a medium-soft brush and set the polisher to lower speeds to brush out the old paste while holding the brush in your hand and letting the polisher rotate the pad.
• Be careful not to throw used paste onto the polished paint during rotary cleaning.
• If you have an air compressor, you can use it to blow out the pad while the polisher is running.
• After successful machine polishing, the pad should also be prepared for future use.
• We recommend washing the polishing pad in a washing machine at 40°C using a detergent suitable for microfiber.
• Polishing pads should never be washed together with towels or cloths!
• After washing, do not put pads in the dryer; let them air dry by placing them on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
• If a washing machine is not available, you can hand wash pads using an APC cleaner, diluted at a ratio of 1:6.
• Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed clean plastic box.
