How to care for polishing pads

• Proper care of polishing pads is important for their long lifespan and future polishing performance.
• Temperature of the pad during use is critical, as pads can heat up significantly while polishing paint.
• If you sand or polish continuously and frequently overheat the pad, its lifespan will be greatly reduced.
• Monitor the temperature and allow the pad to cool down if it becomes hot.
• High temperatures damage both the foam and the pad adhesive.
• Pads need frequent cleaning during the polishing process; otherwise they will clog and polishing will become ineffective.
• As soon as the pad is loaded with polishing compound, take action to clean it.
• Use a medium-firm brush (for example, Poka Premium Brush for Details and Pad cleaning - Hard Blue). Run the polisher at low speed in hand and brush out the old compound from the pad.
• Hold the brush steady while the polisher spins the pad. Be careful not to flick used compound onto freshly polished paint.
• If you have an air compressor, you can similarly blow the pad clean while the polisher is running.
• After machine polishing, prepare the pad for optimal use next time.
• We recommend washing the pad in a washing machine at 40 °C using a detergent suitable for microfiber. A high-quality detergent such as Gyeon Q²M TowelWash works very well.
• Never wash pads together with towels or cloths!
• Do not tumble dry pads after washing; let them air-dry flat on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
• If you don't have a washing machine, pads can be washed by hand using a diluted all-purpose cleaner (for example, Gyeon Q²M APC diluted at 1:6).
• Store pads in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed clean plastic box.
