Carbon Collective Elixir Salt Remover Concentrate

Salt accelerates corrosion and causes underbody and suspension components to corrode. Elixir Salt Remover neutralises road salt, helps minimise corrosion and thereby extends the life of your vehicle. Elixir Salt Remover is a foaming low‑pH pre‑wash specially developed to remove granular road salt, sand and inorganic road film. The foaming nature of the cleaner allows for longer dwell time, breaking down salt and other contaminants over time, or it enables the surface to be brushed (where needed) to further remove embedded dirt. The salt remover is specifically designed to remove bound crystalline salt particles from the surface that would otherwise not be removed by a normal wash or common cleaning agents. Road salt reacts with organic molecules such as fuels, oil and other inorganic molecules from the road, creating a film on the vehicle surface, so a targeted salt remover is necessary. While salt can dissolve in water, bound grains of salt cannot be easily removed by pressure washing or hand washing alone; even prolonged soaking in water removes only a small percentage of bound salt particles. Elixir should be incorporated into your washing process as a two‑step pre‑wash phase, especially during winter. Lower seals on classic cars become brittle, crack and expose unprotected metal surfaces over time, which is where salt and water cause issues by penetrating cracks and accelerating rusting. Older cars are particularly prone to this because they often lack factory galvanisation.

Main features

  • Removes salt from bodywork and undercarriage.
  • Concentrate.
  • Foaming product that works for a longer time.
  • Removes salt particles that a normal wash will never completely remove.
  • Volume 500 ml.

Dilutions

Deep cleaning before applying protection:
  • By spray bottle: 150 ml and 850 ml water — pH 4.5
  • By Snow Foam Lance: 200 ml and 800 ml water — pH 6.5
Regular maintenance
  • By spray bottle: 100 ml and 900 ml water — pH 6.0
  • By Snow Foam Lance: 100 ml and 900 ml water — pH 6.7
  • By hose adapter: neat — pH 6.5

pH levels at different dilutions

Mixed in a spray bottle
  • 50 ml and 950 ml water = pH 6.1
  • 100 ml and 900 ml water = pH 6.0
  • 150 ml and 850 ml water = pH 4.3
  • 200 ml and 800 ml water = pH 3.9
  • 250 ml and 750 ml water = pH 3.8
Snow foam using a foam lance (10 l per minute)
  • 50 ml and 950 ml water = pH 7.1
  • 100 ml and 900 ml water = pH 6.7
  • 150 ml and 850 ml water = pH 6.6
  • 200 ml and 800 ml water = pH 6.5
  • 250 ml and 750 ml water = pH 6.3
Via hose applicator
  • Neat = pH 6.8
Low pH is ideal for removing deposits of granular salt and inorganic road film.

How to use

  • Pre‑soak the vehicle before use.
  • Choose the correct dilution ratio.
  • When working, wear rubber protective gloves.
  • For first use we recommend a stronger dilution to remove any long‑standing salt deposits.
  • Decide how you will apply it: in a spray bottle, using a pressure washer with a foam lance, or via a hose adapter.
  • First apply Elixir Salt Remover to remove road salt, inorganic road film and to lift heavy contaminants.
  • Apply to the lower half of the vehicle, wheel arches and underbody.
  • Leave for 10 minutes, then rinse until the runoff water runs clear.
  • After cleaning, the underbody can be protected with an underbody wax (for example, Bilt Hamber Dynax‑UC).
  • After pressure washing or rinsing off the Elixir, use Ultimus or Ultimus+ snow foam to neutralise any remaining chemicals from step 1, producing almost neutral runoff and removing residual contaminants.
  • It is important to ensure you clean the underbody and underbody components as thoroughly as possible; salt build‑up is usually more concentrated here and can hide easily in panel gaps or underbody parts, accelerating corrosion.
  • Elixir Salt Remover Concentrate can be applied in several ways — diluted for spray, applied as a snow foam or via a hose adapter.
  • Do not allow Elixir to dry on the surface!
  • Work on a cool vehicle and out of direct sunlight!

About the brand

Carbon Collective is a small, independent English company that offers premium detailing products such as ceramic coatings, a wide range of detailing solutions and extensive accessories. They started as product testers, but because they were dissatisfied with the market offerings, they began developing their own products. They have been developing and manufacturing products since 2013, focusing on ensuring each product has a quality formulation, performs perfectly and is easy to use. Development is a step they never rush. All their products are "Created by Detailers, For Detailers". Carbon Collective products are safe to use and often feature pH‑neutral formulas designed to work specifically with ceramic coatings. Each individual product is created to their own specifications through long testing and prototyping, undergoing strict real‑world and laboratory tests before production to deliver the best formula, performance and durability. They will not release a product unless it meets their high standard. Carbon Collective products are specially formulated and developed to be the most innovative and effective products on the market.
