Comfortmat and Ahifi – a story of mutual growth
We were the first in the Czech Republic to start soundproofing cars back in 2014, 11 years ago. Since then, we have worked with a wide range of materials from brands such as STP, Silent Coat, Gladen, and others. You may remember that previously, only basic anti-vibration and moderately effective soundproofing materials were available on the market. Comfortmat changed all that.
At Ahifi, we are perfectionists and wanted to come up with something innovative, revolutionary – something that would surpass the current soundproofing service in the Czech Republic. We searched literally all over the world, tested samples, and finally got our hands on Comfortmat. These are materials for soundproofing cars that are unrivalled in terms of their effectiveness and price/performance ratio. In 2020, we became the exclusive importers of the brand for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Success came very quickly. However, the beginnings were not easy. We had to change the concept of our previous work, attend many training courses, and teach our technicians significantly more demanding work. We changed how soundproofing was done in the Czech Republic—with an emphasis on care, quality, and, above all, high effectiveness. The first published photos of the installations attracted enormous interest. The workshop quickly filled up, and since then, Comfortmat has not only been the most sought-after soundproofing in the Czech Republic, but also the clear best-selling brand in our e-shop. We have also become the largest distributors of Comfortmat in Europe and continue to hold this position today.
Continuous development – Comfortmat sets the trend
Comfortmat is a manufacturer that has never rested on its laurels. On the contrary, continuous development is the main reason why it is now the world's most sought-after manufacturer of vehicle soundproofing materials. Practically every year, Comfortmat brings new products to the market that offer something extra – higher efficiency, lower weight, easier application, or completely new technology. You won't find this with any other manufacturer of car soundproofing materials. And very often, Comfortmat is the first manufacturer to bring new technology to market. Others then follow suit. You may also have noticed that Comfortmat materials are more affordable than their competitors, even though they are generally more effective. This is due to continuous research, our own modern factory, and large investments in development. We work on some products for several years before launching them on the market. This technological advantage also means that many other manufacturers have their products manufactured at the Comfortmat factory. This, of course, also leads to higher prices.
Comfortmat was at the forefront of the development of three-layer membrane materials – adhesive butyl, sound insulation, and acoustic membranes.
Membrane materials – technology that has changed vehicle soundproofing
A major milestone for Comfortmat was 2019, when Comfortmat became the first company in the world to introduce so-called membrane materials, often referred to as sandwich materials. Until then, soundproofing was carried out in two or three layers – first an anti-vibration layer, then a sound-insulating layer, and for soundproofing aimed at maximum efficiency, an acoustic membrane. However, this process was not only difficult to apply, but also required a significant overall thickness of soundproofing, which often caused problems with composition. All this changed with the advent of membrane materials thanks to their multi-layer construction combining butyl adhesive, a sound-insulating layer, and a membrane that dramatically increases soundproofing efficiency. This membrane can be of various thicknesses, and the thicker it is, the higher the efficiency. This concept immediately became a trend, which other manufacturers such as STP and CTK gradually began to copy, albeit with a delay of several years, by which time Comfortmat had already introduced other new materials.
A range specializing in every part of the car body
However, Comfortmat is not just about membrane materials – on the contrary, it dominates the market with its wide range of products and takes a systematic approach to soundproofing. It offers specially designed materials for every part of the car – different materials for doors, floors, roofs, trunk bottoms, and wheel arches, and even several performance variants. Each of them has precisely defined mechanical, acoustic, and thermal properties to perform at its best in its area. This makes it possible to design a professionally balanced system for any car – from a city hatchback to a premium SUV.
You can also rely on its effectiveness, which competing materials cannot match. One example is Comfortmat Titan – the most effective sound insulation material on the market, with sound attenuation of up to 38 dB. It is a membrane material with a total thickness of 8 mm and a membrane thickness of 4 mm. Comfortmat Extreme is similar, with a thickness of 3.5 mm and an acoustic loss factor (MLF) of 0.63 units, making it the most effective anti-vibration material available today. Extreme and Titan are ideal solutions for floors and undercarriages where maximum effectiveness and resistance to vibrations and temperature fluctuations are required. Users can choose from four soundproofing options based on effectiveness, weight, or price, adjust the quantity and selection of individual layers, and order everything right away or arrange for installation.

And that's just the beginning. By the end of the summer, we will receive a new range of revolutionary Comfortmat Aerospace materials that will redefine the entire approach to soundproofing. They will be applied in a single layer (i.e., without the traditional anti-vibration material in the first layer), but will offer efficiency comparable to the classic two-layer process. This means significantly reduced installation time, significantly lower weight, and cost savings – without compromising on results. These materials have been developed specifically for electric vehicles, but they will certainly find use in conventional models as well.
