Steering wheel button control adapter for Porsche ACV SWC 42XPO006-0

Retains the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on vehicle equipment, available functions and the software of the newly installed head unit, some functions may be limited or replaced by alternatives. Compare the shown wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and make sure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM head units was originally installed. Before final installation, verify vehicle functionality, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel controls (SWC).

Intended for vehicles

• Porsche Boxster (987) (02/2009 -> 01/2012) - original OEM PCM 3.0 head unit with touchscreen, OEM MOST amplifier system without support for fader function.
• Porsche Cayman (987C) (02/2009 -> 11/2012) - original OEM PCM 3.0 head unit with touchscreen, OEM MOST amplifier system without support for fader function.
• Porsche 911 (997) (08/2008 -> 05/2013) - original OEM PCM 3.0 head unit with touchscreen, OEM MOST amplifier system without support for fader function.

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power:

• Connectors: 40‑pin Porsche Quadlock.
• Connection for OEM steering wheel control: 3.5 mm jack or spare wire to the SWC input of the head unit.
• Connection to OEM MOST amplifier system: RCA (red/white) – pre‑amplified output from the aftermarket head unit.

Settings:

• Set DIP switches according to the aftermarket unit manufacturer (see BDA).

Vehicle compatibility:

• OEM MOST amplifier system – fader function is not supported.

Special cases and warnings:

• Reimported vehicles or vehicles with different software may have limited functionality.

Important additional information

• Compatible with aftermarket head units that support the OEM MOST system and an analog input for steering wheel control.
• A brand-specific wiring harness must be ordered to fully activate the adapter.

General installation instructions

Checks before installation:

1. Verify all steering wheel control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit installed.
2. Disconnect the original head unit (OEM HU) with no power applied.
3. Check all interface connections to ensure they are correctly connected – with no power applied.

Connections and wiring sequence:

1. Set and check the hardware configuration of the interface – with no power applied.
2. Check the configuration of the head unit wiring harness – with no power applied.
3. Connect the cable to the head unit according to the aftermarket device manual.
4. Connect the other wires according to the device manual.
5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – connect the main power last.
6. Perform the software configuration of the interface according to the product description or manual.
7. Configure the aftermarket head unit (steering wheel controls, camera, handsfree, antenna power, etc.).
8. Perform a functional test of the steering wheel controls and vehicle communication.

Changing interface configuration and HU wiring:

• Make all changes with no power applied.
• After any change, repeat steps 5 to 8 above.

If the interface or vehicle system malfunctions:

• Reinstall the original OEM head unit.
• Start the original unit.
• Initiate CAN Bus shutdown.
• Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
• After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 above.

When modifying wiring or cable routing:

• Wiring and modifications must be performed only by professionally trained personnel.
• All changes must be verified for manufacturer approval or effect on the vehicle warranty before connection.
• All modifications must be verified by measurement and compared to the vehicle wiring diagram before connection.
