How to care for polishing pads

• Care of polishing pads is very important for their long life and future polishing performance.
• Monitor the temperature of the pad during work, as it can heat up to high temperatures while polishing paint.
• Frequent overheating of the pad during prolonged cutting significantly shortens its service life.
• If the pad is overheated, let it cool down for a while, because high temperature damages the foam and the adhesive.
• The polishing pad needs to be cleaned often during the polishing process, otherwise it will stop working and polishing will not be effective.
• Clean a pad clogged with compound using a medium-soft brush, for example Poka Premium Brush for Details and Pad cleaning - Hard Blue, with the polisher set to lower speed while running idle.
• When cleaning with a brush, be careful not to fling used compound onto the polished paint.
• If you have an air compressor available, you can simply blow the pad out with the polisher running.
• After finishing polishing we recommend washing the pad in a washing machine at 40 °C using a detergent for microfibers, such as Gyeon Q²M TowelWash.
• Never wash pads together with towels or cloths.
• For hand washing you can use a special pad cleaner like ADBL Pad Cleaner.
• After washing, do not put the pad in a dryer; let it dry naturally placed on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
• Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed clean plastic box.
