How to care for polishing pads

• Caring for polishing pads is important for their long life and future polishing performance.
• The pad temperature during use is very important for its lifespan, as pads can heat up to high temperatures during paint polishing.
• If you sand or polish for an extended time and frequently overheat the pad, you significantly shorten its lifetime.
• Therefore monitor the temperature and let the pad cool down if it becomes overheated.
• High temperature affects both the foam and the pad adhesive.
• The polishing pad needs to be cleaned often during the polishing process, otherwise it will stop working effectively.
• As soon as the pad is clogged with compound, you should address it.
• You can take a medium-soft brush (e.g. Poka Premium Brush for Details and Pad cleaning - Hard Blue) and set the polisher to lower speed, holding it idle in hand and brush out the old compound.
• Hold the brush in your hand and let the polisher spin the pad. Be careful not to fling used compound onto already polished paintwork.
• If you own an air compressor, you can use it in the same way to blow the pad clean while the polisher is running.
• After successful machine polishing, the pad should be prepared so it can ideally be used next time as well.
• We recommend washing the polishing pad in a washing machine at 40 °C using a detergent designed for microfiber. We recommend the high-quality detergent Gyeon Q²M TowelWash, which works excellently.
• Never wash pads together with towels or cloths!
• Do not put pads in the dryer after washing; let them air-dry laid on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
• If you do not have a washing machine available, you can also wash pads by hand using a special pad cleaner ADBL Pad Cleaner.
• Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a sealed clean plastic box.
