Mercedes GLB - new sound system

Sound upgrade of an SUV Mercedes GLB that included replacing the front and rear factory speakers, installing an amplifier with a DSP processor and a new audio system we also complemented with a subwoofer. For components we chose Morel speakers from the Maximo Ultra base range, a Zapco analog amplifier and a compact Rockford Fosgate subwoofer, which we hid in the trunk’s double floor. Given the customer’s wish to connect both front and rear speakers to the amplifier and the budget limit, we used passive mode with frequency crossovers for the speaker wiring. This is a certain compromise in terms of setting delay to individual speakers, but it also saves considerable cost compared to installing a multichannel amplifier. At the end of the installation it was time to measure and tune the sound on the DSP processor. We use the professional JL Audio Max measurement system with 5 microphones, which allows us to measure all shortcomings and obstacles in the vehicle’s interior sound. We then enter the measured results into the DSP processor software, fine-tune the sound according to our preferences and finally perform the last adjustments with our client. The result of the installation is very high-quality sound adapted not only to the listener but also to this specific car.
