How to Care for Polishing Pads

• Caring for polishing pads is crucial for their longevity and future polishing capabilities.
• The temperature of the pad itself, which can heat up to high temperatures during paint polishing, is very important for the pad and its lifespan while working.
• If you polish the paint for a long time and frequently overheat the pad, you significantly shorten its lifespan.
• Therefore, monitor the temperature and, if the pad is overheated, let it cool down for a while.
• Both the foam and the adhesive of the pad suffer at high temperatures.
• The polishing pad needs to be cleaned frequently during the polishing process; otherwise, it will cease to function, and paint polishing will not be effective.
• Once the polishing pad is clogged with polishing paste, it needs to be addressed.
• You can take a medium-soft brush and set the polisher to lower speeds, in hand, and brush out the old paste. Just hold the brush in hand and let the polisher rotate the pad.
• Be careful not to throw the used paste onto the polished car paint during rotary cleaning.
• If you own an air compressor, you can use it in the same way, blowing out the pad with the polisher on.
• After a successful machine polishing process, the pad also needs to be prepared for ideal future use.
• Here, we recommend washing the polishing pad in a washing machine at 40°C using a detergent designed for microfiber.
• We recommend using a high-quality detergent.
• Never wash pads together with towels or cloths!
• After washing, do not put pads in a dryer but let them air dry, laying them on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
• If a washing machine is not available, you can wash pads by hand using an APC cleaner, diluted at a ratio of 1:6.
• Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed, clean plastic box.
