How to Care for Polishing Pads
- Caring for polishing pads is crucial for their longevity and future polishing capabilities.
- The temperature of the pad itself is very important during work, as it can heat up to high temperatures while polishing.
- If you polish for a longer period and frequently overheat the pad, you significantly shorten its lifespan.
- Therefore, monitor the temperature and if the pad is overheated, let it cool down for a while.
- Both the foam and the adhesive of the pad suffer at high temperatures.
- The polishing pad needs to be cleaned frequently during the polishing process, otherwise, it will stop functioning and the polishing will be ineffective.
- Once the pad is clogged with polishing paste, it needs to be addressed.
- You can use a medium-soft brush and set the polisher to lower speeds to brush away the old paste. Simply hold the brush in your hand and let the polisher rotate the pad.
- Be careful not to throw used paste onto the polished paint of the car during rotary cleaning.
- If you own an air compressor, you can use it to blow out the pad while the polisher is running.
- After a successful polishing process, the pad also needs to be put in a condition for future use.
- We recommend washing the pad in a washing machine at 40°C using a detergent designed for microfiber.
- Never wash pads together with towels or cloths!
- After washing, do not put the pads in a dryer; let them air dry on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
- If you don't have access to a washing machine, you can wash the pads by hand using an APC cleaner diluted at a ratio of 1:6.
- Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed, clean plastic box.
