How to Care for Polishing Pads
- Proper care of polishing pads is crucial for their longevity and future polishing capabilities.
- The temperature of the pad during use is significant for its lifespan, as it can heat up to high temperatures while polishing paint.
- If you polish paint for an extended period and frequently overheat the pad, you will significantly shorten its lifespan.
- Monitor the temperature, and if the pad overheats, let it cool down for a while.
- Both the foam and the adhesive of the pad suffer at high temperatures.
- It's essential to clean the polishing pad frequently during the polishing process; otherwise, it will stop working effectively.
- When the pad is clogged with polishing paste, action is required.
- You can use a medium-stiff brush and set the polisher to low speed to brush out old paste.
- Be careful not to scatter used paste onto the polished paint.
- If you have an air compressor, you can use it to blow out the pad while the polisher is running.
- After successful machine polishing, the pad should be restored for future use.
- We recommend washing the pad in a washing machine at 40°C using a microfiber detergent.
- Never wash pads together with towels or cloths!
- Do not put pads in a dryer; let them air dry on a towel with the polishing side down.
- If you don't have access to a washing machine, you can hand wash pads using an APC cleaner, diluted 1:6.
- Store polishing pads in a dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed clean plastic box.
