BMW X5 (E70) - soundproofing
Soundproofing of a second‑generation BMW X5 with maximum effectiveness. The owner identified significant noise from the tyres and the floor as the main problem, with the front tyre roar and road noise most pronounced there. The same applies to the rear wheel arches and the whole large luggage compartment, which requires thorough attention. In addition, we were asked to reduce the noise of the diesel engine, which does not sound very refined. From the photos you can see that the vehicle is practically un‑soundproofed from the factory and, although it belonged to the premium class at the time, protection against vibrations is almost entirely missing except for minor exceptions. Sound insulation was present in the form of thicker rubber that is part of the floor lining and rear wheel arches. Nevertheless, this state is completely insufficient and that is why we were contacted. Since the owner wanted the vehicle soundproofed in the maximum possible way without compromise, we chose top‑quality materials from the Russian manufacturer SGM. We soundproofed all the key areas of the vehicle, specifically the front, rear and fifth doors, the floor, the luggage compartment including the rear wheel arches, the hood and the front wheel arches from the inside of the vehicle. Three of our technicians work on the soundproofing at the same time and can complete the installation within 1 working day.

Our basic Standard soundproofing includes soundproofing of all important areas of the car, focusing not only on high efficiency, but also at an affordable price. In particular, we are dedicated to soundproofing the hood, front and rear doors, trunk, floor and front and rear wheel arches from the inside. We use Comfortmat anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, especially from the Standard model series, thanks to which we are able to reduce the price to a lower level. However, we apply the same materials as in the Premium soundproofing package to the areas most affected by noise. Thanks to this, our basic package already enables highly effective noise reduction, which at the given price has no equivalent on our market.

The Standard Light sound deadening package is intended for all customers who require a very effective sound deadening of the car, but taking into account the low weight of the materials. We soundproof the same areas as the Standard package, i.e. the hood, front and rear doors, floor, trunk and front and rear wheel arches. However, we use different materials that excel in light weight while maintaining high efficiency. In the first and second layers of noise reduction, we apply lightweight anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, which allow for 30 percent lower weight and at the same time only slightly lower efficiency than with the Standard package. Compared to our most efficient Expert and Expert Plus packages, this is a weight reduction of up to 50 percent.

Our most popular Premium sound deadening package includes almost complete vehicle sound deadening in addition to the roof. And as the name of the package suggests, we work exclusively with top-quality Comfortmat materials from the Premium model range, and in the areas most affected by noise and vibration, we use materials from the top Expert range. Specifically, as part of this package, we soundproof the hood, front and rear doors, floor, luggage compartment, front and rear wheel arches from the inside and the fifth door. Compared to the Standard package, we therefore not only choose significantly more effective anti-vibration and sound-insulating materials, but also soundproof the fifth door. The result is a rapid reduction in noise and an acceptable weight of the materials.

Specifically, as part of this package, we focus on the hood, roof, torpedo, front, rear and fifth doors, floor, luggage compartment and on the front and rear wheel arches from the inside of the car. We choose the same anti-vibration and soundproofing materials as with the Premium sound deadening package, but we also pay attention to the roof and the torpedo. This will enable comprehensive soundproofing without the risk of increased noise in places where additional sound insulation has not been carried out. With the Expert soundproofing package, you get not only rapid noise reduction, but also thermal insulation, and is therefore the most recommended solution if the car is not equipped with a sunroof or a panoramic roof.
