SGM Air Max represents an innovative vibroacoustic material for soundproofing vehicle doors from the Prime series. This product combines SGM’s many years of experience with modern technologies and was developed in cooperation with industry partners. The result is a unique, patented material unmatched among sound insulation products. The material’s construction is a combination of a patented lightweight structure and a highly effective vibration-isolating mass. Thanks to reduced areal weight and high viscoelasticity, complemented by a vibroacoustic membrane, Air Max achieves exceptional performance in suppressing vibrations, resonances and improving sound reproduction. This type is primarily intended for precise door preparation prior to speaker installation.

Innovative AirBirth technology

The SGM Air Max material was created based on the innovative AirBirth technology, which provides it with:

• High adhesion and excellent vibration isolation properties.
• An additional soundproofing layer that increases damping efficiency by up to 20%.
• Complete absence of its own resonance, improving the acoustic performance of the entire system.
• Increased cohesion and strength.
• Maximum temperature resistance up to 160 °C.

The use of a highly adhesive plastic vibration-damping layer reduces microvibrations (so-called vibrodamping) thanks to higher stiffness and the ability to capture oscillations of metal parts. The result is better sound insulation achieved by the combination of mass, thickness and material structure. A viscoelastic anti-resonance layer is applied to the metal surface, which suppresses vibrations and limits the propagation of structure-borne noise. The Tripleshock technology ensures a multiple vibration absorption effect depending on the number of material layers. Thanks to this structure, SGM Air Max has a multiple-fold higher efficiency in absorbing microvibrations, thereby improving the acoustic stability of the construction without adding an additional sound-absorbing layer. The material thus combines effective vibration isolation with lower weight while retaining flexibility.

How to apply

SGM Air Max is applied directly to a cleaned and degreased body surface. For maximum results it is recommended to use SGM Prime Air Max without an additional layer of sound-absorbing material and therefore apply it in a single layer. To ensure proper effect and perfect contact with the substrate we recommend using a pressure roller. Air Max is primarily designed for door soundproofing but can also be used on the roof or fenders.
