Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on vehicle equipment, range of functions and the software of the newly installed radio, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the shown wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and ensure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM head units was originally installed. Before final installation, verify vehicle functionality, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power supply:

  • Connector: 40-pin Mercedes Quadlock.
  • OEM steering wheel control (SWC) connection: 3.5 mm jack or open wire.

Special cables:

  • For unknown Mercedes connector variants: SWC Mercedes vehicle ISO/40-pin Quadlock multilead cable.

Compatibility and limitations:

  • Vehicles with 2-DIN Audio 20 OEM head unit.
  • Vehicles with 2-DIN Audio 50 APS Comand NTG2/NTG2.5 OEM navigation.
  • Mercedes vehicles without an open dashboard.
  • Mercedes vehicles without a 1-DIN OEM head unit.
  • In vehicles with Audio 50 APS Comand NTG2/NTG2.5 OEM navigation, clock setting is not supported – if possible, recode to Audio 20 OEM HU.

Signals and output load capacity:

  • Red: +12 V ignition power (Klemme 15).
  • Orange: +12 V illumination (Klemme 58).
  • Purple/white: +12 V reverse signal.
  • Pink: speed pulse.
  • Green: GND parking brake signal.
  • Max. output load: 250 mA. For higher currents use a relay – 1 relay with coil resistance min. 75 Ω, or 2 relays with coil resistances min. 150 Ω.

Important additional information

  • Steering wheel control (SWC) via CAN Bus. Reimported vehicles or vehicles with different software may have function incompatibilities.
  • To fully activate the adapter, you must order the interface cable specific to the radio brand.

General installation instructions

Checks before installation:

  1. Verify all controls and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit installed.
  2. Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) from power.
  3. Check all interface connections to ensure they are correctly connected – with power off.

Connection and wiring sequence:

  1. Check the interface settings and hardware configuration – with power off.
  2. Check the configuration of the cable to the HU – with power off.
  3. Connect the cable to the HU according to the aftermarket device instructions.
  4. Connect the remaining wires according to the device instructions.
  5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – connect the main power last.
  6. Perform the software configuration of the interface according to the product description or manual.
  7. Configure the aftermarket HU (steering wheel control, camera, handsfree, antenna power and others).
  8. Perform a functional test of the steering wheel control and vehicle communication.

Changing the interface and HU cable configuration:

  • Make all changes with power off.
  • After changes, repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

If the interface or vehicle system fails:

  • Reinstall the original OEM HU.
  • Start the original unit.
  • Initiate CAN Bus shutdown.
  • Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
  • After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 above.

When modifying wiring or cabling:

  • Wiring and modifications must be performed only by trained professionals.
  • All changes must be checked in terms of manufacturer approval or impact on vehicle warranty before connection.
  • All modifications must be verified by measurement and compared with the vehicle wiring diagram before connection.
  • Modifications are performed at your own risk, without guarantee of functionality.
  • Modifications are done at your own risk, without guarantee of avoiding damage to the vehicle, device or interface.
  • Modifying pre-fitted wiring may result in loss of product warranty.
