Retain the original steering wheel radio controls when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle’s equipment, the range of functions and the software of the newly installed head unit, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the shown wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and ensure they match both technically and visually. Check whether any of the listed OEM head units were originally installed. Before final installation, verify vehicle functionality, system settings and proper operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).
Intended for vehicles
- Mercedes Sprinter (W907/W910) (06/2018 -> 2024 vehicles with E-call – before installation check the wiring of the MQS strip microphone interconnect cable, if necessary adjust the wiring and verify the E-call function; for vehicles with an additionally installed camera verify the +12V reverse signal function from the interface, alternatively the white/blue wire on the driver’s side behind the fuse box)
CAN Bus information
Connectors and power supply:
- Connector: 40-pin Mercedes Quadlock.
- Connector: OEM SWC > 3.5 mm jack / free wire.
Compatibility and limitations:
- Vehicles with open dashboard layouts.
- Vehicles with 1-DIN Browse OEM head unit.
- Pink wire – speed pulse signal is not supported.
- For more SWC functions – re-code the vehicle to an Audio 15 OEM head unit, if possible.
Signals and output load capacity:
- Red: +12 V ignition power (Terminal 15).
- Orange: +12 V illumination (Terminal 58).
- Purple/white: +12 V reverse signal.
- Green: parking brake signal (GND).
- Max. output load: 250 mA. For current draw above 250 mA use a relay – 1 relay with coil resistance min. 75 Ω, 2 relays with coil resistance min. 150 Ω.
Important additional information
- To fully activate the adapter you must order the interconnect cable specific to the brand of the head unit.
General installation instructions
Checks before installation:
- Verify all vehicle controls and settings with the original OEM head unit.
- Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) with power off.
- Check all interface connections to ensure they are correctly connected – with power off.
Connection and wiring sequence:
- Check the interface settings and hardware configuration – with power off.
- Check the configuration of the radio connection cable – with power off.
- Connect the cable to the head unit according to the aftermarket device manual.
- Connect the other wires according to the device manual.
- Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – connect the main power connection last.
- Perform the software configuration of the interface according to the product description or manual.
- Configure the aftermarket head unit (steering wheel control, camera, handsfree, antenna power and others).
- Perform a functional test of the steering wheel controls and communication with the vehicle.
Changing the interface configuration and HU cable:
- Make all changes with power off.
- After changes repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.
If the interface or vehicle system malfunctions:
- Reinstall the original OEM head unit.
- Start the original unit.
- Invoke CAN Bus system shutdown.
- Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
- After CAN Bus shutdown repeat steps 5 and 6 listed above.
When modifying wiring or cabling:
- Wiring and modifications may only be performed by professionally trained personnel.
- All changes must be verified in terms of manufacturer approval or impact on the vehicle warranty before connection.
- All modifications must be verified by measurement and comparison with the vehicle wiring diagram before connection.
