How to Care for Polishing Pads

Caring for polishing pads is very important for their longevity and future polishing capabilities.
During work, the temperature of the pad itself, which can heat up to high temperatures during paint polishing, is very important for the pad and its lifespan.
If you polish the paint for a long time and frequently overheat the pad, you significantly shorten its lifespan.
Therefore, monitor the temperature, and if the pad is overheated, let it cool down for a while.
Both the foam and the adhesive of the pad suffer at high temperatures.
The polishing pad needs to be cleaned frequently during the polishing process; otherwise, it will stop functioning, and paint polishing will not be effective.
Once the polishing pad is clogged with polishing paste, action needs to be taken.
You can use a medium-soft brush and set the polisher to lower speeds, holding the brush in your hand while the polisher rotates the pad.
Be careful not to throw used paste onto the polished car paint during rotary cleaning.
If you own an air compressor, you can use it in the same way to blow out the pad while the polisher is on.
After a successful machine polishing process, the pad also needs to be put in a condition for ideal future use.
Here, we recommend washing the polishing pad in a washing machine at 40°C using a detergent suitable for microfiber.
Never wash pads together with towels or cloths!
After washing, do not put the pads in a dryer, but let them dry naturally, placed on a drying towel with the polishing side down.
If a washing machine is not available, you can wash the pads by hand using an APC cleaner, diluted in a 1:6 ratio.
Polishing pads should be stored in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, ideally in a closed clean plastic box.
