Volkswagen T6.1 - new audio system

Volkswagen T6.1 and the installation of a new advanced audio system. This vehicle is perhaps the most frequent visitor to our workshop, not only for soundproofing but also for audio upgrades. This time both were carried out, but our photo report will focus only on the audio, which is unquestionably worth attention. Our client’s brief was to build a completely new audio system focused on high sound quality and above-standard power with the ability to play most genres, including rock and dance music. All while preserving the factory interior appearance with no visible modifications. From these requirements and the specific budget, after careful consideration of all components, we arrived at an interesting system configuration. For speakers we chose the top model line from the Italian manufacturer Hertz, specifically the Mille Legend. Primarily because it is a very versatile acoustic solution that doesn’t shy away from sound quality while offering almost limitless power and high sensitivity. We also focused on selecting a suitable amplifier. We didn’t want to give up analog Class A/B for its natural, detailed sound, but the constraints were placement under the seat with minimal space, the need for 5 or 6 channels, and ideally an integrated DSP processor. Ultimately we found a solution in a new item in our range: a 6-channel amplifier from the American manufacturer Phoenix Gold from the top ZQ series. Luxury design, analog class with excellent sound, sufficient power, integrated DSP, and dimensions that allowed us to install it under the seat down to the millimeter. Everything was complemented by a great JL Audio subwoofer, which found its place under the passenger seat. At the end of the installation we perform sound measurement using the professional JL Audio Max measurement system. We then enter the measured results into the DSP processor software, fine-tune the sound according to our preferences and finally perform the last adjustments with our client.
