The new 12" SPL woofer clearly shows its relation to the highly esteemed ZEUS ZXT EXTREME series. It uses a proven specially shaped suspension profile designed for extremely large diaphragm excursions. This ensures perfect guidance of the diaphragm while preventing unwanted "wobbling." Additional stability is provided by a cover dome made of very durable carbon composite. These features are crucial for SPL woofers as they must withstand extreme excursions and high air pressures. Ordinary plastic covers would be completely unsuitable here. The typical blue magnetic covers from the ZEUS series are also a given.
Thanks to a clever cooling system that ventilates the voice coil through the pole plate, this robust woofer can easily handle up to 1200 W of musical power. It manages short-term peaks up to 1800 W with ease. The above-average large 64mm dual voice coil with an impedance of 2 + 2 ohms has an impressive winding length of 38 mm and is driven by a massive double magnet weighing 120 ounces. With an excursion of +/- 26 mm, the new ZEUS moves a huge volume of air in front of the diaphragm, "pushing" so strongly that it literally takes your breath away.
The new ZEUS SPL Sub feels best in a bass-reflex enclosure. You can start with a volume of around 45 liters, but it delivers really perfect results in boxes with a volume of 55 - 60 liters, where it fully develops its brutal deep bass.
