Steering wheel button control adapter for Toyota

Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on vehicle equipment, available functions and the software of the newly installed radio, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the shown wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and ensure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM head units was originally installed. Before final installation, verify vehicle functionality, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power:

Connectors: Toyota 10-pin / 6-pin / 28-pin.
Connection for OEM steering wheel control: 3.5 mm jack or a spare wire to the SWC input of the aftermarket radio.

Settings:

Set DIP switches according to the aftermarket unit manufacturer (see BDA).

Vehicle compatibility:

Vehicles with OEM units by Matsushita / Fujitsu Ten.
Vehicles with an OEM parking camera – requires an adapter.
Vehicles without a 360° OEM camera system.

Special cases and warnings:

Vehicles at the model year boundary may require a 20-pin + 28-pin wiring harness.
Reimported vehicles or vehicles with different software may have limited functionality.

Important additional information

Compatible with aftermarket radios that have an analog input for steering wheel control.
To fully activate the adapter, it is necessary to order the connection cable specific to the radio brand.

General installation instructions

Checks before installation:

Verify all steering wheel control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit installed.
Disconnect the original head unit with the power off.
Check all interface connections to ensure they are correctly connected – with power off.

Connections and wiring sequence:

Set and check the hardware configuration of the interface – with power off.
Check the configuration of the connection cable to the head unit – with power off.
Connect the cable to the head unit according to the aftermarket device manual.
Connect the remaining wires according to the device manual.
Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – connect the main power last.
Perform the software configuration of the interface according to the product description or manual.
Configure the aftermarket head unit (steering wheel control, camera, handsfree, antenna power, etc.).
Perform a functional test of the steering wheel controls and communication with the vehicle.

Changing the interface configuration and HU cable:

Make all changes with power off.
After changes, repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

If the interface or vehicle system malfunctions:

Reinstall the original OEM head unit.
Start the original unit.
Initiate CAN Bus shutdown.
Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 above.

When modifying wiring or cable routing:

Wiring and modifications must be performed only by professionally trained personnel.
All changes must be verified in terms of manufacturer approval or impact on the vehicle warranty before connection.
