Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Depending on vehicle equipment, the range of functions and the software of the newly installed head unit, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the displayed wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and make sure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM head units was originally installed. Before final installation verify vehicle functions, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power:

  • Connector: 40-pin VAG Quadlock.
  • OEM steering wheel control connection: 3.5 mm jack or spare wire.

Settings:

  • Set DIP switches according to the aftermarket head unit manufacturer's instructions.

Vehicle compatibility:

  • Supported: Seat (except Exeo 3R), Škoda (Bolero / Stream, Amundsen / Columbus), VW (RCD200/210/300/310/500/510, RNS315/510).
  • Not supported: VW vehicles with RCD320 OEM head unit (ISO connector).

Special cases and warnings:

  • Reimported vehicles or vehicles with different software may have limited functionality.
  • Vehicles with an OEM amplified system: adapter LFB 42a-1324-001 is required.

Important additional information

  • Compatible with aftermarket head units with CAN Bus or analog SWC input.
  • To fully activate the adapter, it is necessary to order a connection cable for the specific head unit brand.

General installation instructions

Verification before installation:

  1. Check all control functions and vehicle settings with the OEM head unit.
  2. Disconnect the OEM head unit with power off.
  3. Check all interface connections – with power off.

Connection and wiring sequence:

  1. Set the hardware configuration of the interface – with power off.
  2. Check the configuration of the connection cable to the head unit – with power off.
  3. Connect the cable to the head unit according to the aftermarket unit's manual.
  4. Connect the remaining wires to the device according to the manual.
  5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – main power last.
  6. Perform the software configuration of the interface according to the instructions.
  7. Configure the aftermarket head unit (SWC, camera, hands-free, antenna power, etc.).
  8. Verify the functionality of the SWC and the vehicle system.

Changing configuration:

  • Make all changes with power off.
  • After changes, repeat installation steps 5 to 8.

In case of malfunction:

  • Reinstall the OEM head unit.
  • Start the OEM head unit.
  • Trigger CAN Bus shutdown.
  • Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
  • After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat installation steps 5 and 6.

When modifying wiring:

  • Wiring and modifications may only be performed by qualified personnel.
  • Changes must be approved by the manufacturer; otherwise they may affect the warranty.
  • All modifications must be verified by measurement and comparison with the vehicle wiring diagram.
  • Modifications are performed at your own risk; no guarantee of functionality.
  • Modifications may cause damage to the vehicle, radio, or interface.
  • Changes to the wiring may lead to loss of product warranty.
