Steering wheel button control adapter for Mercedes, Smart and VW ACV SWC 42XMC002-0

Maintain the original radio control functions from the steering wheel when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on vehicle equipment, range of functions and the software of the newly installed radio, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the displayed wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and ensure they match both technically and visually. Check whether any of the listed OEM head units were originally installed. Before final installation verify vehicle functionality, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power:

  • Connector: ISO – vehicles with CAN Bus in the ISO power connector.
  • For unknown Mercedes connector variant: SWC Mercedes vehicles ISO/40Pin Quadlock Multilead (item: 42xmc00c).

Compatibility and limitations:

  • Mercedes vehicles with 1-DIN Audio 5 Audio OEM HU.
  • Smart vehicles with 1-DIN OEM CD HU.
  • VW vehicles with 1-DIN RCD2001 OEM HU.
  • Vehicles with an open dashboard – before installation check the CAN Bus connection and ISO connector wiring by measurement; incorrect wiring will damage the adapter.
  • Vehicles without ISO connector wiring: Pin 7 = +12V ignition (terminal 15), Pin 6 = +12V illumination (terminal 58).
  • Vehicles with different interior comfort CAN wiring: brown-red twisted pair -> blue twisted pair = CAN High, brown twisted pair -> white twisted pair = CAN Low, CAN Bus located in the splitter under the sill cover or at the climate control.
  • Reverse +12V signal is not always supported – alternatively use the white/blue wire on the driver side.

Signals and output load capacity:

  • Red: +12 V ignition power (Terminal 15).
  • Orange: +12 V illumination (Terminal 58).
  • Purple/white: +12 V reverse signal.
  • Green: GND parking brake signal.
  • Total max. output load: 100 mA. For higher current use relays – 1 relay with coil resistance min. 75 Ω, 2 relays with coil resistances min. 150 Ω.

Important additional information

  • Steering wheel control (SWC) via CAN Bus. Re-imported vehicles or vehicles with different software may experience function incompatibilities.
  • To fully activate the adapter, it is necessary to order the connecting cable for the specific radio brand.
