Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle equipment, available functions and the software of the newly installed head unit, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the shown wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and make sure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM head units was originally installed. Before final installation, verify vehicle functionality, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power:

  • Connectors: 10-pin / 6-pin / 20-pin or 28-pin Toyota.
  • Connection for OEM steering wheel control: 3.5 mm jack or spare wire to the SWC input of the head unit.
  • Compatible with OEM reversing camera (depending on variant).

Settings:

  • DIP switch settings according to the aftermarket unit manufacturer (see BDA).

Vehicle compatibility:

  • Vehicles without JBL / JBL Synthesis / Mark Levinson OEM amplifiers.
  • Vehicles without OEM 360° camera system.

Special cases and warnings:

  • For vehicles with an 18-pin CN700 LAN connector, verify the SWC signal wiring on the 8-pin CN800 connector.
  • Pin 6: SWC GND, Pin 7: SWC1, Pin 8: SWC2.

Important additional information

  • Compatible with aftermarket head units that have an analog input for steering wheel control.
  • To fully activate the adapter, it is necessary to order the connection cable for the specific head unit brand.

General installation instructions

Verification before installation:

  1. Check all steering wheel control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM main unit installed.
  2. Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) with power off.
  3. Check all interface connections to ensure they are correctly connected – power off.

Connection and wiring order:

  1. Set and verify the hardware configuration of the interface – power off.
  2. Check the configuration of the connection cable to the HU – power off.
  3. Connect the cable to the HU according to the aftermarket device instructions.
  4. Connect the other wires according to the device instructions.
  5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – connect the main power link last.
  6. Perform software configuration of the interface according to the product description or manual.
  7. Configure the aftermarket HU (steering wheel control, camera, hands-free, antenna power, etc.).
  8. Perform a functional test of steering wheel control and communication with the vehicle.

Changing interface and HU cable configuration:

  • Make all changes with power off.
  • After changes, repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

In case of interface or vehicle system failure:

  • Reinstall the original OEM HU.
  • Start the original unit.
  • Initiate CAN Bus system shutdown.
  • Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
  • After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 listed above.

When modifying wiring or cable routing:

  • Wiring and modifications must be performed only by professionally trained personnel.
  • All changes must be verified prior to connection with regard to manufacturer approval or impact on vehicle warranty.
  • All modifications must be verified by measurement and comparison with the vehicle wiring diagram before connection.
  • Modifications are performed at your own risk, without warranty of functionality.
  • Modifications are carried out at your own risk, with no guarantee against damage to the vehicle, equipment or interface.
  • Modifying pre-fitted cabling may result in loss of product warranty.
