Steering Wheel Button Control Adapter for Hyundai / Kia ACV SWC 42XHY017-0

Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle equipment, range of functions and the software of the newly installed radio, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the displayed wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and make sure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM head units was originally installed. Before final installation, verify the vehicle functionality, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel control (SWC).

  • Kia Cee'd [JD] (06/2018 -> 09/2021) - original OEM head unit.
  • Kia ProCeed [JD] (06/2018 -> 09/2021) - original OEM head unit.
  • Kia Rio [YB] (02/2017 -> 02/2020) - original OEM head unit.
  • Kia Rio [YB] (08/2020 -> 04/2023) - original OEM head unit.

CAN Bus information

Connectors and power:

  • Connectors: 24-pin / 18-pin Hyundai.
  • OEM steering wheel control (SWC) connection: 3.5 mm jack or spare wire.
  • OEM reverse camera connection: RCA (male) yellow.

Settings:

  • Set DIP switches according to the aftermarket head unit manufacturer (see the device manual).

Compatibility and modes:

  • Vehicles with CAN Bus and built-in navigation: use the CAN Bus solution.
  • Vehicles without CAN Bus and without analog navigation: use the Hyundai/Kia LFB harness 35-pin/38-pin multilead camera/analog (item: 42xki012).
  • Vehicles with different pinouts or with OEM navigation: verify pin wiring before connection to avoid errors or damage.

Special cases (camera):

  • OEM rear camera power +6 V: verify correct wiring to the OEM head unit by measurement before installation.
  • OEM rear camera video signal: verify Video (+/−) polarity relative to the OEM head unit before installation.

Warning:

  • Some vehicle settings are not supported.
  • In reimported vehicles or vehicles with different software, function incompatibilities may occur.

Important additional information

  • Compatible with aftermarket head units that have an analog steering wheel control input and/or a CAN Bus interface.
  • To fully activate the adapter, you must order the connection cable specific to the head unit brand.

General installation instructions

Checks before installation:

  1. Check all steering wheel control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit.
  2. Disconnect the original radio (OEM HU) with power off.
  3. Check all interface connections to ensure they are properly connected – with power off.

Connection and wiring sequence:

  1. Check the interface settings and hardware configuration – with power off.
  2. Check the wiring configuration of the harness to the head unit – with power off.
  3. Connect the cable to the head unit according to the aftermarket device manual.
  4. Connect the remaining wires according to the device manual.
  5. Connect the entire installation to the vehicle – connect the main power last.
  6. Perform software configuration of the interface according to the product description or manual.
  7. Configure the aftermarket head unit (steering wheel control, camera, handsfree, antenna power and others).
  8. Perform a functional test of the steering wheel controls and communication with the vehicle.

Changing the interface configuration and HU harness:

  • Make all changes with power off.
  • After changes, repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

In case of interface or vehicle system failure:

  • Reinstall the original OEM head unit.
  • Start the original unit.
  • Initiate CAN Bus shutdown.
  • Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
  • After CAN Bus shutdown, repeat steps 5 and 6 listed above.

When modifying wiring or cable routing:

  • Wiring and modifications must be performed only by professionally trained personnel.
  • All changes must be verified for manufacturer approval or potential impact on the vehicle warranty before connection.
  • All modifications must be verified by measurement and compared with the vehicle wiring diagram before connection.
  • Modifications are performed at your own risk, without guarantee of functionality.
  • Modifications are at your own risk, with no guarantee against damage to the vehicle, device or interface.
  • Pre-modified harnesses may void the product warranty.
