Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Ford ACV SWC 42XFO001-0

Retain the original steering wheel radio control functions when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. Depending on the vehicle's equipment, the range of functions and the software of the newly installed radio, some functions may be limited or replaced by others. Compare the displayed wiring connectors with the connectors in your vehicle and make sure they match both technically and visually. Check whether one of the listed OEM head units was originally installed. Before final installation, verify vehicle functionality, system settings and correct operation of the steering wheel controls.

Intended for vehicles

  • Ford Escort V [AAL/ANL] (02/1995 -> 09/2001) - original OEM head unit.
  • Ford Focus I [DAW/DBW/DFW/DNW] (10/1998 -> 10/2001) - original OEM head unit.
  • Ford Focus I [DAW/DBW/DFW/DNW] (10/2001 -> 08/2005) - original OEM head unit.
  • Ford Galaxy I [WGR] (04/2000 -> 05/2006) - original OEM head unit.
  • Ford Mondeo III [B4Y/B5Y/BWY] (12/2000 -> 06/2003) - original OEM head unit; Ghia / ST24 versions are not supported.
  • Ford Puma I [ECT] (07/1997 -> 12/2001) - original OEM head unit.

CAN Bus information

  • Connector: 8pin / 8pin / 17pin Ford.
  • Output for OEM steering wheel controls: 3.5 mm jack or loose wire.

Important additional information

  • Intended for vehicles with OEM head units Visteon 2000, 4050, 5000, 6000, 6006 and 7000, without OEM Blaupunkt navigation.
  • Intended for aftermarket head units from Sony, Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Alpine, LG, Zenec, XZent, Digital Dynamics, ESX, Snooper and universal "China HU" units with Key1/Key2/GND wires or a 3.5 mm jack depending on the type.
  • To fully activate the adapter you must order the connection cable for the specific head unit brand.

General installation instructions

Verification before installation:

  1. Check all control functions and vehicle settings with the original OEM head unit installed.
  2. Remove the original radio with the power off.
  3. Check all interface connections to ensure they are properly connected – with the power off.

Connection and wiring sequence:

  1. Perform interface settings and hardware configuration with the power off.
  2. Check the configuration of the connection cable to the head unit (HU).
  3. Connect the cable to the HU according to the aftermarket device's manual.
  4. Connect the remaining wires according to the device's manual.
  5. Integrate the entire installation with the vehicle – connect the main power connection last.
  6. Perform the software configuration of the interface according to the instructions in the product description or manual.
  7. Configure the aftermarket HU (steering wheel control, camera, handsfree, antenna power, etc.).
  8. Perform a functional test of the steering wheel controls and communication with the vehicle.

Changing the interface and HU cable configuration:

  • Make all changes with the power off.
  • After making changes, repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

In case of interface or vehicle system malfunction:

  • Reinstall the original OEM HU.
  • Start the original unit.
  • Wait for the CAN Bus system to enter sleep mode.
  • Check the hardware configuration of the interface.
  • After the CAN Bus has slept, repeat steps 5 to 8 listed above.

When modifying wiring or cable routing:

  • Connections and modifications may only be performed by professionally trained personnel.
  • All changes must be verified before connection in terms of manufacturer approval or impact on the vehicle warranty.
  • All modifications must be verified before connection by measurement and comparison with the vehicle's wiring diagram.
