SGM Alpha 3 Anti-vibration Material
SGM Alpha 3 is an advanced anti-vibration material designed for effective suppression of body vibrations and resonances. It is manufactured on the basis of a next-generation self-adhesive polymer butyl rubber and a 90-micron aluminum foil. The foil, with a square embossing and black-and-gold coating, features a modern print; on the installation side the material is protected by a silicone-coated release film. A high acoustic loss factor MLF = 0.40 together with a 3 mm thickness provides excellent properties for zones with higher vibrational loads, such as the floor, trunk or firewall. Thanks to an optimized butyl rubber composition with improved adhesion and thermal stability, SGM Alpha 3 remains reliable across a temperature range from −40 °C to +100 °C. The material guarantees high efficiency in areas where the balance between weight and effective vibration damping is critical.
Main Features
- Anti-vibration material 3 mm thick with high vibration absorption efficiency.
- Acoustic loss factor MLF = 0.40 for effective vibration mitigation.
- High adhesion to metal surfaces and anti-corrosion protection.
- Resistant to water, humidity and oils.
- Stable performance in the temperature range −40 °C to +100 °C.
- Easy installation without the need for heating.
- 90-micron aluminum foil for increased strength.
- Designed for zones with higher vibrational loads – floor, trunk, doors and roof.
How to apply
Due to its 3 mm thickness and high acoustic loss factor MLF = 40, SGM Alpha 3 is especially suitable for areas with high vibration loads. Alpha 3 is ideal, for example, for soundproofing the outer door skin, floor, roof, wheel arches or trunk. For correct function it is essential when applying to use a pressing roller and ensure perfect contact with the surface. Recommended applications:- Outer door skin
- Floor
- Roof
- Trunk floor
- Fenders
- Front wheel arches
- Rear wheel arches

| Acoustic Loss Factor (MLF)The acoustic loss factor (in English, mechanical loss factor) expresses the ability of the material to absorb propagating sound and change the energy of vibrations created by the sound into thermal energy. The theoretical maximum loss factor is 1, which means no vibration. For example, non-sound-proof steel with a thickness of 1 mm has a loss factor of approx. 0.001 at 200 Hz. Therefore, the higher the loss factor, the better. By combining damping materials, it is possible to significantly increase the loss factor to values approaching 1. | 0.40 |
